Logan Karnow has hit some hard times. His title sponsor has ghosted him. I know vital is huge and cares about the little guys so I figured I would share here!

Logan is currently 17th OA on the West and has been riding the 450 on the East. He's an awesome dude, great IG follow.
Hope he can get his situation sorted.

We're supporting Logan Karnow this season. I don't know the details of the supposed broken contract, but he's preformed really well and has been great to deal with. No complaints here, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Hopefully he can get a new title sponsor and keep things going with his program, he's a rad dude that gets results!

Pretty BS to drop a comment saying he breached his contract without providing any context past that. Sounds like motozone is short on cash lol.

More than a little vague on both sides of this story.

That being said,
I've seen many many times, somebody with a company credit card abusing the privilege.
Not saying that's the case here, but that's the only bit of detail I picked up on.
Funny that he mentioned that bit of onfo.

Take a peek at the IG comments. Looks like Motozone may have not been paying and is looking for the easy way out. They are getting lit up pretty good in the comments.

Logan has a good reputation and has ridden for other teams for multiple years, has left, and still has great relationships with those programs. He's been around quite a few years without anything but a good rep. I tend to think the first year sponsor may be the issue.

Who is Motozone? Is it a real business or just some random guy? Tried to get some info from their website and instagram but its all super vague.

Also after reading through all the instagram comments it does seem like Motozone is the shady one here.

Lastly, just made a donation to Karnow, seems like a great kid and bummed he has to deal with crap like this.

It kind of sounds like a moto version of Prestige Worldwide:

MotoZone was founded in Northeast Ohio by long-time Motocross racers and enthusiasts that wanted to make a difference in elevating the game of fellow professional motocross racers. The love of the sport is our drive to create a team of athletes that will dominate the competition with our help.

I've lived and raced in north east Ohio my whole life. 26 years of racing. I've never heard of them.

Looks like MotoZone turned off any comments on their post about this situation. Comments on all their other posts are people demanding an answer for Karnow. I love the Moto community

This is why most people in the industry STFU over this stuff....it really makes a mess for everyone.

Mess for the sponsor, and you may not see it now, but also for the rider. You can bet other sponsors or potential sponsors are paying attention to this and how it goes

No one wants negative issues.

Things aren't always as black and white as one might think and no business is going to get into a pissing match on social media over what is a personal matter between two parties.

We get it man, you used to own a company that sponsored riders. This shit is pretty black and white.

A lot of privateers should take the Zane Merritt approach.

in what possible way is it black or white? It’s Logan’s word against theirs.

Yeah well Karnow has been around quite awhile at this point. Lots of folks “know” him.

To this point all this “company” seems to be is smoke and mirrors.

Some Bro’s mouth wrote a check his bank account couldn’t cash and unfortunately for Karnow he bet his season on it. This’ll be the last we hear of this clown show company, whatever it is, stamp it.

What is the normal process of "funding" a sponsorship for a privateer like this? Do companies just give out the company credit card and say here is a budget of X dollars? Or do they give a lump sum and say make it last the whole year? I'm genuinely curious.

Ive sponsored a few shit box racecars locally and before my name went on the car the cash had to be in the drivers/managers hand. I dont get what happened here.

Are privateer "title" sponsors that few and far between that they are desperate and have to take shady deals like this?

They say he violated his deal.

I don't know.

Two sides to every story, right? I'm not taking any sides and have met Logan and have helped him. We just don't know the deal between them.

Paypal and Venmo to Logan is a great idea

It depends on the deal and the amount.

Some is a lump sum up front. Especially got smaller amounts.

Some is per round.

Some is monthly.

Sometimes it’s a credit card for fuel and/or expenses.

Sometimes they book your travel.

Sometimes they buy your bikes or give you a transporter to use, etc.

Sometimes it’s one of those (or none) plus bonuses based on results.

And sometimes, as it appears in Logan’s case, it’s a promise to one or more of those and then you reap the rewards and don’t pay anything or the agreed amount.

but most guys can’t turn down the help, especially if they get a contract in writing. Although it doesn’t mean squat it seems. Keep in mind even some “well known” brands have a hard time paying full amounts, or on time, or as promised. It’s a tough world out there.
