Two thoughts. 1) That Howerton video is sick. That's my "home" track and damn...I wish I could see it go by that fast from my bike. 2) Those Decotis videos are absolutely ridiculous. Especially the 2 stroke vid. Stupid fast.

Growing up riding the same track as this kid was really a reality check. Kid used to show everyone the fast way around the track on an 80. Well except for maybe if Smail, Huffman or a hand full of other guys showed up.

i think that was a TWMX video too?? somebody dig that up!!!
Ha!

Yeah my brother and I were talking about it the other day but no such luck either!

It was definitely TWMX and there is one bit where he is railing a downhill right hand sweeper powder berm on the pegs so hard I about spat out my milk... Hilly can bust it for sure...

I firmly stand by my statement from weeks ago. If 2-strokes stayed as the main bike in the pros, James Stewart would retire with the most wins all-time. He crashes far more on the 4-strokes than the 2-strokes. I think riding over the front end of a 4-stroke is not the preferred riding technique. Stewart just came at the wrong time. There's no one that EVER went as fast as Stewart did on a 125 and a 250 2-stroke. STAMP IT.

I agree. It kinda goes with the saying that a 4-stroke is a lazy man's bike. Stewart pushes it all the time and the two stroke rewarded him. I think the 4-stroke rewards smoothness and patience as opposed to full on aggression. I wish some of his 125 vids weren't of such crappy quality, I could watch them all day. Stewart reminds me of that quote from Money Ball, "...he's gotta be successful to be confident. And once he becomes confident, that's when you got something." Hopefully he'll be successful the first few rounds of SX and get some confidence. There is NOTHING like watching JS7 ride to his true potential. Dude is just gnar.

Yeah, for sure. The 4-strokes are not bad for the sport. I just think the charging of the guard came at the wrong time for Stewart. I guess the timing was right for history's sake because Stewart had to be riding a 2-stroke as fast as the technology would allow. I just can't imagine a 125/250 going any faster. It is unfathomable.

That jump is so bizarre to me! You can sorta tell that he's climbing up a slight incline, and for anyone that knows the track it's definitely not done justice on T.V., and it doesn't look like he's going all *that* fast, then all of the sudden LIFTOFF he's flying thru the air!
