I'm a big KTM fan, but the early 90's were brutal.

I gave my '91 125 back: It had fckd linkage right out of the box, it was the fastest 125 I'd ever raced...until ya tried to SHIFT...it handled and TURNED like a GE Locomotive.

In their day those things were pretty cool, until ya looped it! That was a great era to be a Team Green rider: those rear fenders weren't cheap!

Neither were the: Clutches, Pistons(kits), Shifters, Swg-arm bushings...all of which were hi-wear items.
My older brother went to 125's mid-season that year and had 2 of the 125's, and 3 80's, he was also a TG rider. Man i really need to get him to bring up his photo albums so i can scan some good memories, my little moto-momma was a kickass photographer.

I know millions have been spent on advertising hyping this up, but I'm not too crazy about them!

I actually forgot about this abomination. It might actually be #1 in my book. It looks like 5 different guys designed this bike and none of them spoke to each other. This thing is just FUGLY

Here is my number one seed. Hard to imagine what the hell Suzuki was thinking with this one. The worst was when I saw guys with these just putting the numbers on OVER the stripes. At least they were actually good bikes.
I thought I made my '92 look pretty decent. I was 13-14 at the time, so please excuse the mass stickers on the front number plate and fork guard! (I later changed the front to black background with #70 when I raced...):

Frame powdercoated gloss black, motor stock but fully rebuilt top and bottom end, FMF pipe/silencer, Works Performance rear shock, and a front number plate for a '99 125/250 (fit perfectly with no mods). Every small part, bearing, or plastic that looked worn got replaced. Totally built the bike from the ground up and learned a lot about how to work on them. I loved that bike.

I laugh now when I see the SMP stickers though haha... Tongue

Oh man I loved those YZ's!! I was 16 at the time and thought it was the coolest. Looks better than the new Yamaha's as far as I am concerned. Yes the RM's look pretty bad but back then I tried to make my 89 RM250 look like the 92. Stupid kid huh? Lol

Man I really don't see why the 91/92 RMs get such grief, they were wicked at the time. Some might say they haven't aged well, but at least they were cool at the time. What else from '91 still looks cool other that Air Jordan 5's??? Lol

Plenty other bikes listed in this thread already that never looked cool even when they were new.

FWIW i think the Suzuki, Hondas' and Kawasaki's through 90-96 looked right, they looked light and trick and in my eyes a fresh, stock looking example still looks trick today. I've got a restored '91 KX that ive had since new, and in my eyes its the prettiest bike ever made, I lustest after that thing when I was moving up from 100s like I never have for another bike lol

Look at a '91 YZ, it had the ugliest, big ass plastics of the bunch, that was an ungainly looking pig of a bike plus it was a roach to boot. I can't remember one kid in my class in Scotland finishing off the season on one.

Man these KX's would break if you looked at them funny. I had one split the gas cap because I tightened it down a little too much. All of a sudden mid Moto my balls are on fire for some reason. I look down and my lap is covered in gas. Ugly and fragile are a great combination.

This was actually my Fat Cat. Not sure what I was thinking. It looked like it would be fun but holly crap it was the worst bike I have ever owned. Total death trap.

Been there with the split gas cap situation, on a '95 KX 250.

No heat like dousing your balls in fuel!

I think these actually look ok. It is the 96 and 97's that were really bad to me. They were that odd butterscotch color that just did not go with anything. Just funky.

OK to me this was really a low point for Honda. The 95 Factory Honda's this year were some of my favorites of all time but the stock bike just looked silly to me.
The last time an "ugliest bike" thread popped up, I voted for the '95 CR. The very next week I had one in my garage. Needless to say, it's grown on me.

As mentioned, the Rokon. Not sure which was referred to but either works.

I can't remember if it was Dirt Bike or Motocross Action magazine that got it right. They said it looked like Ronald McDonald puked on it.

No worries at all bud! i love that pic, check out how identical my orig scan was, i used that as my av everywhere for about 8 years or more until my friend Josh finally made my custom OC one that is influenced by Ricky Carmichael's RC logo.

WOW!!....that was really weird. When I first looked at this thread on the main page....I had thought Scottie switched back to his old sig. Didn't even realize it "wasn't" him until a few posts later hehe.

Anyways.....these threads are good Tblazier. Don't get all formal and Apologize.....just tell people to "F" off.......that's the way it works around here. At least that's what everyone says to me anyways.

It's unrestored. I found it last year, covered in dust, with about 25 hours on it. The tires hadn't even been off of the rims. Since then, I installed fresh rubber, chain, sprockets, a Ti YZ450F rear spring and a new set of '08 CRF450 forks I had laying around. Here is what it looked like after it's first bath.

Dude that thing is cherry, I am so jealous! I HAD A 1996 CR250 and it was a great bike. I have been looking for one to get and do up a Mcgrath replica. Nice bike.
