I find it hard to believe kawsaki just went through his locker.
I don't think "Kawasaki" went through anyone's locker. And an employee of the team opening a locker is not out of the question.

I really don't understand where some of you guys come up with this shit...?

From Heroin to Locker-Room Gossip...PUN INTENDED.

Col. Jessep: You want answers?

Kaffee: I think I'm entitled to.

Kaffee: I want the truth!

Col. Jessep: You can't handle the truth!

You weep for Davi, and you curse Kawasaki. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Davi's Firing, while tragic, probably saved a Ton of CASH. Even more than you'd save by calling Geico!.

This will likely sound jerkish, but read what you wrote above, then explain Jake Weimer's last few years with Monster Energy Kawasaki.

Also, what if Davi were offered a softer, more polite exit, but declined the opportunity to take it?

And bigborefan, there are a whole lot of rumors out there. You have to pick and choose what fits, what doesn't, etc. You also have to find sources willing to talk...and who you trust to be giving you the right info. I know everyone would love to have the whole story instantly, but sometimes it's not that easy. I'd rather take a bit longer and be right, than first and wrong.

I sort of don't understand why Davi even bothered going to Santa Clara. When I (and several other journalists) asked Davi if he had time to chat, his answer was, "I've got nothing for you."
I know that Milsaps didn't get terminated because of his results.

I'm saying it could appear that way, because I feel Kawasaki Public Relations dropped the ball when they issued a cryptic, terse press release with no explanation WHY they fired their number one US athlete.

Even if Milsaps and Kawi management didn't get along, and they did find something illicit in his locker, they should have taken the high road as a major multinational corporation, instead of issuing a statement that makes them sound upset and angry.

Again, this isn't some first year kid on the Pro Circuit team, Davi Milsaps was their star US rider this year. This should have been handled with more tact.

... maybe they're not releasing any information because they are trying to protect Davi?

Coming from a marketing / PR world I think Kawasaki handled it perfectly. They have chosen to distance themselves from a rider, made the announcement as soon as it was official (look how much everyone bitched about the "Will Villo ride the GP's" wait we all had to deal with), and perhaps have left it to Davi to address his fans as to why he was let go in a manor of his choosing? It's basically like letting the kid own up to breaking the lamp before you run around telling all of his friends, family, and neighbors that he's a horrible kid.

Granted if Davi comes out swinging saying "Fuck Kawi" I'm sure they would release details that the team and investors have been privy to but until then, I think Kawasaki is taking a very respectable approach.

No disrespect meant, I'm a fellow KX500 aficionado myself, but your comment just adds more fuel to the fire. If it was all about saving money, why doesn't somebody man up and just tell it like it is? If Kawi can save a truckload of money by buying Davy out, then they should say that. Was there even anything in the locker? Your comments give me doubt.

These multinational corporations never come clean, it's all MBA/Marketing/PR double speak. Was is peace, peace is war.

When you ask, "If it was all about saving money, why doesn't somebody man up and just tell it like it is?" it's sort of like asking, "Will everyone who's not in the room please raise their hands?" I've not once heard that as a possible reason.

Well of course it saved a ton of cash, regardless of whether that was the intent or not.

Got to admit that I am curious about what appears to be a rather unconvential ending to the Kawi/Milsaps relationship. As I think about it, though, my curiosity is peaked not so much by the fact that I really care why it took place, but, rather because of the lack of any stated reason. Reading this thread, there is speculation by many bordering on defamation of both parties.

So, why all the secrecy? It doesn't seem to be benefitting anyone.

Maybe they found some form of paraphernalia associated with the use of something else. Perhaps when confronted the suspected violator refused to cooperate by submitting to a test or providing an acceptable reason for it being in his locker. Has this scenario been eliminated from consideration?

There are better ways to handle fans (kid fans at that) than to say I've got nothing for you. Regardless if the answer is yes or no. . .

And to tell a reporter that is pretty presumptuous and assholish also. He can't even answer what his plans going forward are? He's not on the Monster team anymore and a lawsuit is likely not going to accomplish that anyways. He could at least say "I'm planning on taking some time off" or "I'm working on a deal for the outdoors". Instead he gives the big fuck off.

So basically he was saying he did not have a comment.

I wouldn't take this as him being a jerk he was just saying.

I'm assuming it has to be some sort of PED. Perhaps one on the level of PED's in cycling since on pulp they were bringing up the severity of the truck driver being pulled over with this in the rig. Am I way off here?

If it is something (and I am speculating) like oxy, percocet, or vicodin and Kawi dumps him immediately for that it's a sad story all around, and a bad reflection of the sport.

That would paint a picture to outsiders of a kid that comes up in the sport, talented, gets the big rides, deals with the pressure, suffers through injuries, and then struggles with an addiction to pain killers. Only to be dumped without any further support for getting help or rehabilitation.

The sport has to take care of itself and that means looking out for one another.

I hope this isn't how it went down.
