You weep for Davi, and you curse Kawasaki. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Davi's Firing, while tragic, probably saved a Ton of CASH. Even more than you'd save by calling Geico!.
I'm saying it could appear that way, because I feel Kawasaki Public Relations dropped the ball when they issued a cryptic, terse press release with no explanation WHY they fired their number one US athlete.
Even if Milsaps and Kawi management didn't get along, and they did find something illicit in his locker, they should have taken the high road as a major multinational corporation, instead of issuing a statement that makes them sound upset and angry.
Again, this isn't some first year kid on the Pro Circuit team, Davi Milsaps was their star US rider this year. This should have been handled with more tact.
The Shop
Coming from a marketing / PR world I think Kawasaki handled it perfectly. They have chosen to distance themselves from a rider, made the announcement as soon as it was official (look how much everyone bitched about the "Will Villo ride the GP's" wait we all had to deal with), and perhaps have left it to Davi to address his fans as to why he was let go in a manor of his choosing? It's basically like letting the kid own up to breaking the lamp before you run around telling all of his friends, family, and neighbors that he's a horrible kid.
Granted if Davi comes out swinging saying "Fuck Kawi" I'm sure they would release details that the team and investors have been privy to but until then, I think Kawasaki is taking a very respectable approach.
interesting
These multinational corporations never come clean, it's all MBA/Marketing/PR double speak. Was is peace, peace is war.
I suspect a guy named Team Green might some insight, no?
So, why all the secrecy? It doesn't seem to be benefitting anyone.

Shoot
I wouldn't take this as him being a jerk he was just saying.
That would paint a picture to outsiders of a kid that comes up in the sport, talented, gets the big rides, deals with the pressure, suffers through injuries, and then struggles with an addiction to pain killers. Only to be dumped without any further support for getting help or rehabilitation.
The sport has to take care of itself and that means looking out for one another.
I hope this isn't how it went down.
