Fess up? Really enjoyed participating on Mototalk from 2000 on until it faded away. It was a great board. What it used to offer that no board did passed awhile ago. Like it or not, that had much to do with what Bruhn brought to the table, and other content providers leapfrogged that IMO. Can't turn back the clock on that. There are a handful of people there who don't participate anywhere else that I miss interacting with, but it just doesn't have critical mass to make it worth investing a lot of time getting involved. Boards already take up too much time.

But anywhere people can get together and share their love of moto is a good place. The board wars, whether MT v. Fresh Dirt and the evolutions to Motodrive and now Vital, are a bunch of horseshit an always have been.
I agree with FTE. As far as alumni, present!

I was there. Pretty late to the game. I was in a year or two before TFS spun out. I came in after seat bounce and strobe flash, but not too soon after. Reside here now.

I'm here.

I was at MT since the early days.

The days when RC16 didn't have a bounty on his head.

The days when Sondra had a Racer X column.

The days when Meyer would chant 'Reed Reed Reed' and get burned by people saying he was an talentless dipshit Aussie who'd never be any good. (Geoff was convinced they were talking about Chad).

I still like MT actually. Quality not quantity.

I think we all appreciated your role as the voice of reason and civility back then, Steve. Silly

Two things I have learned here is that Vital would be nothing without MT, and TFS is responsible for the creation of the digital magazine.
This is awesome. What else?

Yeah, there was in the early days, like 97/98. I was the only one with any endurance!

I started lurking there in 2002 and joined in 2003, around Cameltoe Gate.

Went to my first A1 Dave and Busters gathering in 2005 and met a bunch of MT crew there who i still keep in contact with and drink with every visit i make. Had a ball there, shame it went down the gurgler the way it has.

Holigan had posted on MT that he'd give away a complete set of Showa A-kit suspension from the Bookoo team to the Mototalker who posted the top ten finishing order that came closet to being correct...I won'em!

Was also fortunate to get some of the SX gas card passes that DC used to put up on mototalk.

Used to have fun haggling with the saps who didn't know RC was the real deal...wasn't long before everybody was an RC fan in some way or another. There was a thread with a picture of RC trading hats with a soldier at a SX and that somehow turned into a mega thread due to some managing to find fault in that simple gesture. Made me realize people could argue about anything!

I think I remember Hooligan's contest. Smile
Didn't Hutch tell Hooligan something like...
"Next time you want to do a contest do it on your own dam forum!" ?
I dont think Hutch liked the contest.

Hutch was testy and inconsistent about stuff like that, which is too bad.

The forum should have been pretty much wide open for stuff like that, same for spamming. I used to tell GuyB to spam his reports all he wanted, and hutch would bitch.

I always thought the more the better, and better to let people do their stuff on your forum than chase them off so they start their own.

And in the past week or so, we've had posts from Geoff Meyer, Swap, and users here, pointing out cool content on other sites.

Good. Keep it up.

One of the ideas I had for post-MT days, and you may even remember, was some kind of media pages where anyone could use it and spam all their reporting in one place. It's too bad I didn't look at Facebook at the time, because when I did, I thought "fuck, I could have used something like this!"

The folks writing Racetime said they could, but it never was really that close to what I had in mind. That was a Joomla site and they were really practicing for supercross.com upgrades, because that was their main focus.

I owe my career for the last 7 years (photography at the races) 100% to TFS' inspiration. I'd still be a cubicle dwelling IT geek if it weren't for him. I owe much of the initial polishing of my technique to GuyB who was always around to offer help whenever I asked for it. Those two guys (and their forums) have had a huge impact on my life and I'll never forget it!

Haha, thanks.

I remember seeing you at the fence near the finish with a digicam at Steel City, and I thought "that's the guy that did some killer pics from the fence at Troy..."

I was there long before and the day MT imploded with the pay to post scam. Including watching and helping fuck with TFS who accused people of saying things that never happened. I don't remember the particulars but it was amusing for about 10 minutes. It was the end of any relevance by the board and it's management.

People give, take and expect too much credit. The websites, coverage, and info available today would be there with or without anything that happened in the past.

I was "Susexful" on Mototalk from like day one in 97, I think it first started. Before Mototalk a lot of us used to hang out at the AOL motocross chats. I know Sondra and a girl named Christa and several others were there before Mototalk started.

I never had to pay to be on Mototalk until I stopped keeping a lot of the drama going, and then suddenly I had to pay for a couple years.

After a while a lot of the "PRO Rider" haters got old, lots of guys constantly talking shit about the top riders in the sport. I never understood how people would hate on riders for petty shit. I remember Hammertime got famous for all the hate towards riders, especially towards my homie Damon.

I also met some very cool people in person from mototalk. Good Times for sure. TFS was Mototalk, he made Mototalk what it was without a doubt.

Yea that was the year RC dropped down and raced the 125 after wrapping up the 250 title early. What an awesome day that was... Nikon Coolpix 990, baby!

Oh, great.
You left because you said I said shit that didn't happen, but you don't know what it was. Maybe you don't remember because it didn't happen.

How ironic!

No I left because nothing there was worth paying for. But I had fun yanking the chain one last time. Maybe I don't remember because it was insignificant.
