Been out here 27 years and a new riding bud (who use to do motorcycle tours and loves to EXPLORE) took me on some trails I'd never been on.
There was an old Stagecoach stop, train tracks and an old abandoned house in BFE.
It always amazes me when I see the great lengths people went through to build stuff in hard to get to remote areas and then walk away.

Been trying to get in as many miles as possible on the street bike and dirt as the HEAT is around the corner.
I know indoor season is coming for you guys…but some warmth sure sounds good these days. Two more feet of snow fell last week and is covering everything. Moisture is not a problem. Here is my thermometer this morning after it had already warmed up more than a few degrees.
I don't know how you guys survive back there with those frigid temps!
But then when it's 115 you probably say the same thing about us "Desert Dwellers".....
That's when it's lake time for us.
Regarding the KTM's--just do it!
They are taking over the off-road segment in a BIG WAY.
I already had a 520 EXC that I took on the ride above and while riding it I told myself "this thing works so good in that environment, I can't ever see selling it"
So for the tight SingleTrack I picked up this baaaby and she works really good, but the forks needs some dialing in as they have a mid-stroke harshness while my 520 is like riding a Caddy....
After last week's rain in the desert it was a MUST DO for a ride.
Conditions were perfect and it very much had an
On Any Sunday feel to it. You know the feeling, grinning ear to ear as you pull 4th gear wheelies, thanking God you ride dirt bikes and can't imagine life without them.
There were four baby calfs they were protecting.
Matter of fact I roosted Kimbro with some sweet ol' cowpie that McQueen would have been proud of. I was laughing so hard as he was trying to get me back while flying WFO thru a twisty sandwash.
Good times!
It's amazing the extreme measures the miners went through to bring this HEAVY equipment to remote areas.
Mike was digging the ol mine
Boiler
There's hope for me, this guy is 64 yrs young and buys a new bike every year--a true Desert Rat.
Nice lookout over the abandoned mine
The ol girl is as fun as EVER!

Heading home
Hope you enjoyed the pics.
Pit Row
What your group did you use?
There hope for a lot of us: This guy is 74. He is the dad of one of my ridding buddy. Showed up with a clapped out Husaberg he had just bought for $700. Didn't do a thing to it. I don't know how he rode that pile of crap, the steering head was so messed up that you had to fight it to turn, and then it would go full lock.
Old school bell helmet and oiled cotton jacket.
And yes, the West rules
Selfie as the sun was getting pretty low (we got back to camp in darkness. Not that ideal when your bike doesn't have lights!
I know this area really good but as you can see by the DEEP RUTS, especially after some historic rains at the end of summer that this area has been ridden out. It's a real shame as there were some awesome trails here.
mjskier, that is an awesome pic of the 74 yr old guy--DAMN!
i actually just picked up the street-legal kit for my 300 so that I can do the highway transfers if needed. i was so close to pulling the trigger on a 525 fully modified for adventure riding but i backed out at the last minute as i didn't want to finance it. it would have been nice to have a dedicated adventure bike and my 300 for moto and tight trail riding, but for now i'll continue to swap stuff back and forth.
it was beautiful weather here last weekend so me and my dad and some friends headed out for some riding in a new area to us. here's a few pictures, sorry if i'm hijacking your bitchin thread.
