My first bike was a '71/'72 Indian Mini, then I transitioned to a 75 GT80, but my first "real" bike was an '82 RM 80. To this day I don't know how Bruce Bunch made that turd go so fast!
Deming, NM 1988 - '86 YZ80 i bought from mowing lawns and washing cars in the hood as a kid. Bought it from a motorcycle salvage joint with a broken case, worked at my friend's dad's yamaha shop for a summer and the lead mechanic took pity on this 7th grader and helped me rebuild it. moto in southern new mexico back in the late 80's was a frikin blast.

First MX bike..
Pit Row
then at my 7th birthday party freshly showered after a killer mud fight with my mates, my parents surprised me with this
I'm the blonde kid on our right either politely sharing my new bike or about to push the other kid off
Some awesome collectible stickers were on that bike. The front and rear fender had my best rare stickers as I was a huge collector as a kid. How about that trick red duct tape on my Factory Honda visor?! lol
I have a pretty cool story. After I got this, I went camping with my next door neighbor and his dad at Bell Mountain. 2 guys ride up asking us for some quick directions to some big jumps near by that were known and my buddy and I ride them there. Those two guys were Scott Burnsworth and Ricky Johnson. We couldn't believe what was happening was real. We rode with them for about 3 hours watching them blast huge jumps and riding a little track near our camp. They gave us each a couple pairs of brand new goggles with some autographs. One of the best days of my life riding dirt sickles!

In any case, man was that an exciting day when we picked it up. I'd been hankering for a dirt bike for a long time and only been able to take rides on a friend's for short periods of time.
Bike served me well, never had a problem with it.
After some of my handy work (at the ripe age of 13). Candy apple green paint job, "donkey dick" grips, J&R Pipe, Preston Petty fender (with mud flap). I eventually laced up a 21" front wheel and got actual knobby tires. It had a battery and the generator didn't work. I had to hook it to the truck with jumper cables in between motos. Good times.
A few years later I saved up all on my own and bought a 1985 XR 100, when I was about 12, and rode that thing ENDLESSLY!
Good memories. Just me and my brother, we taught ourselves, dad wanted nothing to do with bikes. Stll doesn't...........
This is like the one I started on. I restored this a couple of years ago.
