If you know what THOR stands for. If you wore JT V 2000 shoulder pads. If you had a double leading shoe front brake.
I still have a DLS front brake.

Heck, my first MX bike had a single leading shoe front brake! (82 RM125).

You can remember the guy who you beat in a last turn dust up in a moto in 1982 when you see him for the first time in 32 years, in the supermarket, but can't find your car when you go outside.....

You still think that after all of these years the succulent smell of Castrol R is the sweetest smell that you have ever known...... or at least rivals that of your wife when she is sporting some serious foo foo juice in the midnight hour!

You thought that bumping up to pay for airplane gas was too expensive, so you went with the Amoco "white gas" to mix with the Bel Ray!

You're absolutely right Spartacus. The name came to me immediately but forgot the correct spelling.

Looking at the color of the CRC sticker on the front #plate told of how fast the bike went!

Watching a slightly overweight kid on a kx80 do some spanking, nights on the international track. Surratt and Indian dunes. Those little bikes would 'pop' when over revved, sounded so cool!

You learned how to read by flipping through Dad's stack of Dirt Bike and Motocross Action Magazines.

Later on--- you thought you were "cutting edge" with a Cycle News East subscription.
Now,you were able to have your finger on the pulse of moto-happenings. You knew who had won a national MX at the light speed time of nearly two weeks after it happened.

You stayed up to 1,2, or even 3am in the early 90's to record a one week old supercross race because you didn't trust the timer on the VCR , nor did you trust ESPN to actually air it when it was supposed to air in the wee hours of the morning...

You never in your wild dreams thought you'd watch live MX on TV, or follow it live on some crazy thing called the Internet...

You called a 1-900 number on Monday to get the MX results so you didn't have to wait for Cycle News to arrive.

Your brand new 1978 CR250r cost $1199.00

You had to drill holes in your new helmet to mount a Sinisalo face mask.

You used a milk crate as a race stand.

You know what a Barum wrap around is.

You know what DeHandlers are

When you lined up, there were more than 5 brands lined up with you. A LOT more. Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, Husqavarna, Can-Am, CZ, OSSA, Bultaco, Carabella, Hodaka, Maico, Monark, Montesa, Puch, Harley Davidson, Greeves, AMMEX, Yankee and more could all be seen on the line in the 70s and into the eighties, with many more brands before that.
