Such a polarizing rider, perhaps of all time.

Easily on the Mount Rushmore of MX Greats.

Yes but I'm not sure why, only he would know.

You do mean the sport that gave him a great living that he worked so hard for?

If I’m not mistaken hasn’t he always kinda kept to himself and avoided media interaction maybe he doesn’t hold a grudge at all and he’s just consumed with his family and doesn’t feel its necessary to make a statement or get involved in some other capacity with the sport

Really hope hes okay and not suffering from any cognitive stuff related to his concussions. Didn't seem to be the same after Dungey knocked him out cold in supercross at the end there (no I'm not hating on Dungey, it was a racing incident).

Hopefully hes just pissed at the AMA and FIM.

One of only two people to ever do that. The dude was a God on a dirt bike. And to the other comment, yeah, I blame wada, 18 months for Adderall when he had a script for it? Seems a bit excessive for a drug that I highly doubt would help you win races. I saw the dude multiple times both indoors and out, he was light speed fast-
Times in Stewart's big bike career he's had a season in which he's either had a DNF due to a crash or missed a race due to injuries sustained in a crash:

05 SX, 05 MX, 06 MX, 07 MX, 08 SX, 10 SX, 12 SX, 12 MX, 13 SX, 13 MX, 14 SX, 14 MX, 16 SX, 16 MX

Times in Stewart's big bike career he's had a season in which he never had a crash related DNF or missed a race due to a crash related injury:

06 SX, 07 SX, 08 MX, 09 SX, 11 SX.

Sounds like maybe he has a history of crashing to me. Doesn't really make sense to argue otherwise.

RC may be the goat & RV/RD got the tiltes, but know one had the talent that Stew had. Both RC & CR will tell you, Stew was the best ever. Unreal
Watching him ride. Toronto 14 may have been his best SX race ever.

Racing the best? Better check his comp in the 24-0 season. It's telling that his only outdoor win in the elite class was 24-0 in a weak season. He never beat the greats like RC, RD, RV outdoors but dominated the second tier. Classic flat track bully. Like the boxing hype job that gets ko'd when he steps up in class after destroying 30 bums.

His detachment from the sport since retirement stinks of bitterness IMO. Not a single interaction, that's not stepping away that's clearly making a point by deliberately offering nothing at all. Probably thinks he's dropped the mic but in reality it is 2 fingers up to his fans. Fortunately for him they are not the smartest bunch.

I just miss having a guy who would go out there and pull out crazy quads or send the wall jump or seat bounce from the roller before over the wall jump. It seems like we’re missing that guy today, maybe there just isn’t anyone who feels the risk is worth it.
Eli? At vegas... Baggett jumping that wall jump into the rollers that James said he wouldnt even do. When James says its crazy its crazy. Baggett jumping past Eli last year almost off the track..

Yea RC is on VIDEO TAPE saying James is the fastest rider ever to throw a leg over a dirt bike. RC knows more than anyone in here does so his word holds weight..all the weight.

I think he expected to come back but the further it got he just accepted it. If he had been riding then stopped he probably would have done a press conference or announced it. He already wasnt riding tho so what was he gonna say Im still not riding? RC didnt even do a press conference that I remember. He just said it was his last year and only raced a couple races. James I think in a way it was kind of a F U to wada because the suspensions are so ungodly long that they destroy careers, like Tickle. The NFL doesnt do a wholeee lot right but choosing suspension lengths for their own players is right. Wada puts the end to your career when your suspended a few years its ridiculous and unacceptable.

He had select races where he was running up front but more often than not he was the fourth fastest guy behind RC, Reed, and Windham. Definitely underpowered.
What if RC, Reed and Windham were on two strokes back them still, what would the difference have been?

I would speculate RC still winning but Stewart right up there higher than how he did versus the 450's.

If they were all on two strokes then Carmichael and Stewart would be far ahead speed wise and Carmichael would come away with the championship.

Not in SX.

CR would be right there with them.

NEVER WEAR A MOTO JERSEY TO A RACE AS A SPECTATOR. ITS STRAIGHT UP POSER, AND IT LOOKS DUMB.

Yea. Let's not support the sport by investing in and advertising for what we love. Only successful sports branding endeavors should be proud of that. Besides, who wants the money and exposure of world Football, American Football, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball, etc when we can have home schooled high school dropouts living in a van at 26 still thinking that one day "they'll make it" and secure enough funding to retire before they're 35. #OnlyInMoto

Actually he missed a race in 11SX at Jacksonville with the right handed first turn. RV was interviewd right before the race and was pissed saying he lost 25 points to James and then James crashed in the first turn and got a DNF.

He's still James, no matter how many titles he gave up. All of the legends literally blow there load when talking about him from Baily on.

Its just like FOX selling shirts at PacSun instead of your local motorcycle dealership, wrong demographic.

Yea. They should sell them exclusively at the dealership that only sees dozens of people a day who don't all ride moto instead of a chain retailer with hundreds of locations across the U.S. that sees thousands of people a day.

There's no such thing as a wrong demographic when the purpose of owning a company and growing a sport is about creating awareness. If you can branch out in to other verticals and capture even a 1% growth then it's successful. It's not like the guy is wearing a "QuadBoss" jersey at a SX.

Well yeah of course he was an incredible rider. I never will dispute that. But to state that he didn’t crash a lot is just factually incorrect and an idiotic statement to make. I was just pointing out how incorrect they were.
