He has been preaching that for a while. We have an old school hip hop radio station (btw it is awesome) and he has an older song that basically says it's white people's fault that he wants nice clothes. I roll my eyes every time I hear it:

Do you guys really think he is being serious when he comes out with all these ridiculous things? Maybe you haven't caught on to how the media works and how people like Kanye make money... by staying in the headlines!
