Have you ever played golf?

I have. It's a joke. Again, it might as well be bowling.[/quote:lgx3vjh7]

You know Scotty I used to feel a little bad for you when folks would pile on but now I see their point.

That's exactly how I felt...until around 6 or 7 months ago.
I was going to answer this one, but as I read the comments that followed it looks like you all have figured it out.
P
The Shop
I remember reading about him in the paper when he was a teenager and played in some pro tournament (every now and then you read about those, like Wie on the women's tour), but his name stuck in my mind well before he was on the radar. Then I remember watching him in those U.S. Amateur opens or whatever, and his performances were just incredible. Had the same Jordan/RC type of vibe noticeable back then. Watching him early on, it was just like watching Mike Tyson come through the ranks in the ole Cus D'Amato days. Of course, Tiger will never have a downfall. I don't get much into all the "who's the greatest" type of arguments comparing sports that are completely different, but it is just a joy to watch someone compete on such a superior level.
From golfworld
"That said, the odds I've found on a Website that surveys the betting lines of various legal operations seems to have a pretty accurate handle on the CA Championship. Tiger is the favorite at 10-11, with Mickelson at 16-1, Els at 22-1, Singh at 25-1 and Scott at 33-1.
OK, so you have to bet $11 on Tiger to win $10 while a $1 bet on Mickelson will earn you $16. Pretty much for the risk you take to win $10 on Tiger you can win $160 on Mickelson. Why, that's outrageous. And it pretty much accurately reflects the state of things right now in professional golf. Woods is not only playing golf on a different level than everyone else, he's doing math to a totally different set of rules. "
Another set of numbers to chew on- he's got 11 wins in his last 12 tournaments worldwide- the one non-win.... 2nd. This is against 144 players who realistically can win any given week.
Anybody that knows Vegas and golf will understand that worse than even money on a golf tournament is insane.[/quote:3ealav7n]
I didn't realize how awesome Tiger is. He must have a lot of perfect seasons![/quote:3ealav7n]
you don't have a clue about golf
[/quote:3ealav7n]
You must be right, because as I said earlier, I had no idea that Tiger was so dominant. 11 wins in 12 tournaments! Nobody in motocross has [i:3ealav7n]ever[/i:3ealav7n] gone 12 for 12, or 24 for 24, or lapped the entire field. That would just be unheard of!

The kid has been on the radar since like 10, just when has Tiger NOT been on someones radar? Nobody in golf has ever had the hype he had before going pro.

As long as we have to compare other sports, when's the last time a motocrosser won an event that had over 7,000 people attempting to qualify for it...?
A single event......

Honest 90's within 3 months of when I started. I quit because: 1) It was so comical and boring that I'd finish a 6-pack within the first 4 or 5 holes, and 2) The a-holes who play it are so uptight because it's a fag non-contact sport. I had some chump that was headed into the 130's get pissed because I stepped in the path of his ball on a green...I probably helped the moron out.
So, to my original point....it's honestly like bowling. Pretty much just a slow game that's hand-eye coordination with a sort of swing motion. And, Woods' record is still nowhere near as impressive as RC's. And that's not just from the numbers. To dominate going through what RC had to go through each season, as opposed to walking around in Dockers, is really amazing.

Honest 90s on par three courses is not so well........

that in a nutshell alpman is the reason these people that argue this stuff are ignorant white folk. dumber than a box of rocks. i mean who would actually argue that RC is better in any way compared to Tiger. Now if Tiger was white more of the cock-sucking white supremacists would concur.

I'm absolutely certain that RC is a better motorcycle racer than Woods is......
As for comparing them, they've both pretty much transcended their sports, so I'd prefer to call it a tie.
No doubt. If I was that bad, it would've been a challenge and I would've stuck with it.
If it's so easy, why aren't you out there making a couple mill a year?
You are a racist closed minded little rodent who is intimidated by stoned snowboarders.

So you felt that occasionally shooting in the 90s (most likely with about 20 "mulligans" a round....) meant you had mastered the game? That there was no challenge left?
That explains a lot......

Honest 90's. No mulligans. No cheating. Not on a par 3 course. I started out with a baseball style swing, read a Ben Hogan book, and the slice disappeared. My scores went from the 120's into the 90's in a couple of months after reading the book and practicing winding up like a "rubber band". It was actually ok at first, but it started to get boring quick. I never said there was no challenge...it just wasn't worth the time for the minimal excitement it provided. Let's see...hop off of a dirt bike after ripping around the Cali desert, then expect to find a thrill walking around hitting a little white ball, stuck with a bunch of fat sales guys on a crowded golf course...yeah...what a great way to throw away 4 hours on a Saturday.
Look, point was that the airplay Woods get is way over-rated when compared to the dominance, skill, strength, varying conditions, and danger that RC had to overcome to put up even bigger numbers than Woods has. Sorry, but no comparison.
No doubt. If I was that bad, it would've been a challenge and I would've stuck with it.[/quote:3b1cf9ue]

So which one is it, Mr. Golf Master?[/quote:17x3dyhu]
You're right. I'm wrong. I'll admit it was fun at first, but it got boring quick. I guess that makes Woods accomplishments far exceed those of RC. Yeah...golf is much tougher. I stand corrected. " title="Laughing">

Would it have mattered if 12,000,000 people tried to qualify? He's already seeded, and he would have handed them their asses anyways.
Tiger has redefined the word "dominance" in golf, just as Jeremy did when he went 14 for 15 in 96. 6 years later, Ricky came along and raised the bar by having a perfect season, and then ANOTHER perfect season.
When somebody comes along and has two undefeated seasons in golf, then you can call him the RC of golf.

He was seeded the same as RC is seeded for the night show in SX, or is guaranteed a spot on the gate at a National because he's a past champion.....
Again, the comparison you are looking for isn't realistic in any way, shape, or form.
A golf tournament is 4 days, not one. No one will ever have a full, undefeated season in golf because of the dynamics of the game. The fact that RC has done it in MX and MC almost did it in SX yet no one, in all the years that professional golf has been played in this country, has come close in the sport of golf shows how difficult/impossible it would be in that sport.
At this point, I'd say I am equally impressed with Nicklaus and Woods...giving Woods the nod as the better golfer. So limiting myself to a few MX riders and golfers...I'd rank my admiration of their accomplishments/abilities in this order:
RC>JBS>Reed>Woods>Nicklaus
So in order to not be racist, would I have to put James Stewart or Tiger at the top of my list?
Go ahead, call me a racist now...

Couldn't the same thing have been said before RC did it?
