Nice!

We need a thread showing how everyone stores these Carpet Queens. My KX gets moved around like an old sack, too dirty in my shop, no room in my house. lol

Can anyone suggest the best aftermarket bolt kit for these CR's, I've Zinc plated all the main bolts, or bought new OEM. Just looking for mainly plastics, shrouds etc. "Bolt" have a CRF Pro pack that looks pretty good to suit the older CR's, I'm looking for things like flange washers and drilled fender washers. OEM will add up fast when talking $$$.

If you look on Ebay you can find people that part out bikes selling hardware lots. I bought a couple of those and sent them out with some hardware for another bike I was restoring. OEM is ridiculously priced, but Powersports Plus has some good shipping rates for small lots in you get in a jam. Not sure about shipping to AUS though.

Anyway, after buying those lots I have an abundance of spare hardware now, all clean, all OEM from (in my case) Kawasakis.

Do you guys use Throttle jockey for your graphics? I see they have the kit, just missing the ama pro and DID swingarm decals. What did you use.
Also who has frame guards? I see works connection is out of stock.
Thanks for any leads!

CRFSTUFF.com do the drilled washers. That's where I got mine from. Ask your dealer in Australia if you can look at their MCS catalogue as they have a huge selection of EOM replica bolts, etc. Or you can view all their products online in PDF at www.mcsonline.com.au however you can't purchase directly off them as they are an importer/wholesaler. You will need to purchase them through a dealer. NOTE WELL though that they are not Honda OEM quality. Your dealer 'should' keep an assortment of MCS bolts at their shop to show you an example. I had all my hardware re-zinced in Brisbane for around $60 and the ones that didn't finish great or had worn heads I replaced with mainly OEM. If you buy OEM get them from Service Honda, along with other bits and pieces from US suppliers (like the drilled washers) and have them shipped to a friend in the US who would be happy to combine them and ship them to Australia for you as one package.

The Bolt kits are "OK" but won't do a complete bike (nowhere near it) so you'd have to buy a few which would be a waste of $$$.

Any questions mate shoot me a text on 0428-319399 or contact me on Facebook if you're on there.

Cheers

Throttle Jockey do a 95er kit but won't produce a 96 kit as they were originally made by 100% in 1996. TJ did the Team Honda graphics in 95.

I have 96 Team Honda kits for sale (the same as my bike) if you want to contact me via PM or on Facebook.

Works Connection no longer make the frame guards. I got their last set direct from them a couple of years ago. You will have to search online for a set I'd say.

I've been following this build thread for sometime now and finally registered tonight. My hats off to you, incredible info contained within here.

I looked on TJ website and could not locate the 95 team honda kit for the 93-96 bikes. The oldest they go back to is 00-01, but don't even offer the replica team honda 1995 kit on any of the two stroke honda's. Am I missing something?

Click retro replicas, then about 3/4 down the page you'll find them.
Options for perforated or non on the tank decals. Also they'll do any name for the name decal on the tank.
My set just arrived last week, very nice. My bike will get used.
If your going for a top notch and correct build? Consider MCfans offering.

I see where I made my mistake. I was clicking on the retro 95 kit that is made for the modern bikes. I didn't see that there was an actual retro graphic kit for the older bikes under the separate link found here:

http://throttlejockey.com/product/x_5UTN93QWawZSN1EY2lkPT/RETRO%20REPLI…

Very cool, and definitely not as nice as mc4life's kit.

As some background i purchased a 1995 CR250 to race in my local revolution classes motocross's and grand prix's. Soon after buying it I discovered the previous owner who said he had done a full top/bottom end rebuild had reused the center gasket between the cases, as well as the main crank seals. Needless to say not only was it leaking oil, but it was also sucking gear oil into the bottom end and burning it (horribly I might add).

I performed a full honda OEM rebuild including a new cylinder, head, crank, top end, and all associated bearings and seals. Then replaced all the jets and needles with stock spec honda OEM. Bike runs beautifully now, however everything else needs to be replaced/repaired as you can imagine.

I do have a few questions, mainly concerning the airbox. First the airbox is completely white, yet the bike is a 1995 model, US spec. Is this the incorrect airbox for this particular bike? I believe it should be a black/grey airbox correct? Also the right side of the airbox where the side panel bolts to the airbox, the nut/bolt holder is completely missed and currently held in place with a clear ziptie (NOT happy about that) Is there a way to replace just this part, or did this particular piece come with the entire airbox? I have looked on the honda parts fiche but cannot locate this part by its self.

Thanks for any help in advance, I thought about making a separate thread but this seems to be the place to discuss restoring these beautiful bikes.

95 air boxes are white. 96 air boxes are dark grey. The side panel nuts are part of the air box.

this is pretty unfortunate as honda no longer offers the OEM airbox, or the airbox 'lid' that goes over the top. I have been searching on ebay but so far no luck. In order to keep it year correct it would have to be white, however I would rather prefer the shadow gray color.

Does anyone have a good source on complete airbox's?

Seems there has been a run on OEM 95/96 parts lately and a bunch of body work that was available a year or two ago has recently gone discontinued. The air box lid is really just a mud race piece so I wouldn't sweat that one. If you have a friendly Honda dealer, he can computer track discontinued parts to see if anyone in the system has them in stock.

Did some work to mine this weekend. Hate to take off the Ohlins but what color rear shock spring do I need to go with? Looks like white?

hey Col,

when you did the rear brake upgrade did you use the 97 caliper and carrier? Or just the carrier?

You were saying you needed a Yamaha banjo bolt, I'm guessing this was the one that goes into the caliper so the bolt clears the top of the swingarm? What model Yamaha? And did you have to machine the carrier at all?

I got a real nice set of 97 brakes on e-bay and am trying the use the entire set-up as my 96 brakes are stuffed. The MC is slightly different, but by changing the fitting to the resovoir hose it actually fits pretty good.

Jim I bought a complete brand new caliper and carrier off a 97-99 CR250, but just the carrier will suffice. The calipers are the same. I just bought it as a complete set because the cost of both wasn't much more than the carrier on it's own. From Service Honda the price is only $47 more for the complete set-up. Brand new they are only $100 for the carrier (4) and $147 for the carrier and caliper (7)

I have a 2008 YZ250 also and just orderred the banjo bolt off that model. Most late model YZ and YZF's would be the same I'd imagine but that one definitely works. And yep it's the bolt that bolts the hose to the caliper. Washers will need to be orderred seperately if you want those as well.

No machining is required.

Make sure you're looking at a 250 carrier as the 97 125 carrier is the same as the 96 250 carrier. You want either 97-99 250 or 98-99 125.

Hi MCfan,
I was looking into the idea of a 96 mc restoration and as soon as saw your work of art I had to start on one, I can feel it becoming an obsession already! Ha ha
Do you have any of 96 graphics kits left for sale? Do you know also where I could source a replica seat cover? I'm located in the uk! I'm also looking to find a contact to source hrc replica clutch and ignition covers. Any help or information would be appreciated!

Regards, Matt
