The price of the Tech 7's have me curious but I don't want to sacrifice protection for cost. What are the main differences between the two?

7s are basically 10s without booties..7s are also a little softer i think, more range of motion with the ankle area..the new buckle system on the boots is great tho. i had a pair of the previous gen tech10s modified by alpinestar. (not available to public tho) just go try either pair on and see what you like..tech 10s are a little stiff to begin with brand new tho .

I prefer my 7's over 10's. They are a little stiff new in my opinion but wear well

Thanks for the insight. I'm not opposed to shelling out the $$ for the 10's but if there's not much of a difference protection wise then I'd go for the 7's. It's nice that Alpinestars offers sweet color ways in a lower price point boot too. Do you guys happen to know why the 10's only have 3 buckles instead of 4, like the 7's and most other boots have?

I've been wearing 10's since they were 1st introduced. Been through thick and thin with that style of boot. Had many pairs and the useful life is awesome. Re-soled many time..... they need a new booty every so often.....I sheared off my tibia fibula in Patagonia in a pair... the boot kept the skin intact and the emergency room doctor used a big ass knife to slit the boot and filet it open. The boot really earned its keep on that one!!! Yes I bought a new pair when I was all healed up and ready to ride. You can even have cobbler lift themWoohoo

Tech 7's are better all day. If you want protection, go a Sidi Crossfire 2. Tech 10's are a hassle with the inner booty. You wear a tech 7 and you just gel with it right away. Tech 7 tech 7 tech 7

If it's high protection you're looking for, I would stay away from Alpinestars completely. This is coming from a guy that has been wearing Tech 10s for 5+ years and had Tech 7s before that.

They are a great boot in terms of looks, feel and comfort, but not great for protection or durability. I would look at Gaerne or Sidi if protection is your main concern.

I bought the new Tech 7s when they first came out. I had a get off and it ended up breaking a piece of plastic on the boot and Alpinestars wasn't able to replace it as the boots were brand new and they didnt have spare parts yet.

I upgraded to the new 10s.

What you are comparing is comfort to protection.

7s are quite a bit more comfortable and slimmer as they dont have the inner bootie, but you are still able to over extend and sprain an ankle.

10s have a lot more ankle support. I had one get off with my 10s on that i KNOW would have snapped my ankle if i had the 7s on instead.
The 10s feel a lot bigger on your feet...cause they are.

It really comes down to personal preference.

Sooo......
Respectfully, what's the story with the lift on the right foot but not the left? Badly broken leg?

Also, those are Tech 8s.
