Lots of riders moving around in the off season, but is there anyone out there that has a chance of beating Jett? The huge contract money is spent by teams in hopes of bringing home a championship. If Jett is able to stay healthy (and he appears to be smart enough to ride just fast enough to win), is there anyone in the field that has the potential to step up their game and bring the heat to Jett week in and week out next year? If not, are teams still spending championship-contender money to sign a factory star that can only win if another rider has bad luck?
Even the GOAT had James and Chad. Is there anyone out there that can challenge Jett?
Awesome, another Jett thread.
This thread is actually about the rest of the field and not Jett.
Sexton, Ferrandis, Cianciarulo, Webb, Plessinger should all have the speed (when healthy) to be closer then they are now...
Isn’t it way too early in the states to be drinking?
‘We know you can’t beat Jett, so we’re going to pay you less but still expect you to represent our brand while you race for second place.’ What manufacturer in their right mind would think that made sense?
The Shop
Forgot about Chase already?
Chase gave Jett everything he wanted second moto at Pala, he will do the same when he comes back.
Or: "Chase rode the ride of his life after being blown off at MXON, and couldn't show Jett a wheel".
But what if you're wrong?
Or Chase rode after bad crash in qualifying and mono yet still reeled in Jett in that second moto
I'm confused? Whats the question? Are teams going to pay lesser salaries now because they know no one can beat Jett??? huh?? 🤨
Chase rode the ride of his life? Did you miss how fast he and Eli went last year? I was at Pala, Chase pushed jett, and imo, if the track had allowed it, Chase would’ve passed him, with a slight concussion
I was about 10 feet away from the cool down tent, Jett was spent, he couldn’t get his helmet off fast enough to sit and get water, Chase wasn’t even tired. O’mara told me that Jett was tired because he’s never been pushed like that and the intensity level tired him out.
I’m not taking anything away from Jett, he phenomenal, I’m just saying he’s going to get everything he wants from Chase.
Oh, and Chase said he was looking at the big picture, so there was no need to try and chase down Jett at the MXoN.
With the exception of Sexton, the other riders on your list are doing all they can to finish in front of the top privateers every week. I don’t see any of them showing Jett their front wheel this summer or in the future. “Should” and “will” are two very different things.
I sure hope Chase can come back soon and make this interesting.
So now chase had a concussion after the qualifying crash.
Lol ok Dr Uptite
I heard most of the top teams are looking to save money by offshoring their rides to India.
As an Aussie and a Jett fan, this year is not a view into what’s coming in the future. Chase can run with Jett anytime indoors and outdoors, same as Eli if we get him back. Webb and if we get a healthy AC9 and a motivated JA21 will all make jetts life hell in atleast the first few years of Supercross. Then you have the likes of Hunter, Jcoop, hampshire and Jo sho that will all be in 450’s in the coming years. Any of these names can step up and make it interesting over the next few years. The theory is plausible but I truly don’t think we’ll ever see the likes of a McGrath type run in the sport ever again.
If we've learned anything this year a championship isn't over until it's over. I think Jett will be winning quite a few in the (not so near) future. But let's not crown him just yet.
KTM will be paying Chase very well, if Eli decides to ride next year he will be getting big money too and so on...
Jett's performance will only affect his own salary. It's insane to think otherwise.
Yes
Pit Row
It’s only Chase at this time. How this is the case is still hard to fathom, but we’re looking at a historic moment. Unless Tomac returns, the competition is going to come from new guys entering the 450 ranks, including Hunter his brother. Things will begin to tighten up then, but to your question, I don’t think the factory teams will be comped lower under the assumption they’re going to lose. The new guys coming up are likely to be more aligned to Jett’s approach and ability. We have a new generation, and only one of them is in the 450 class right now.
Jett lifted his bike onto the stand easily and walked to the tent. He looked no different from the dozen other times I've seen him after the second moto.
He'd gone 1-1.
Chase had thrown everything he had at him without even setting up, let alone showing the wheel.
Jett Lawrence is wise to "make hay while the sun shines". It won't be nearly as shiny in a month or two.
Adrenaline is a hell of a hormone.
And yet...
