I hadn’t seen one of these in years.
That is in amazing shape as well. Nice!
It actually looked new.
There’s one sitting a few miles from my house. Hasn’t moved for a long time
The Shop
What is the significance of these? I think a friend of mine had one.
We had a couple of those back in the day, but they were not called Hi Points just yet.... They were known as Pro Trac's. Bobby Moore's Dad owned the company that made them, guessing he sold the design rights to Hi Point. I'd love to find one and restore it.
They weighed basically nothing being all glass. The first generation of those were aluminum clad, we got our first one in late 82. Dad saw a few at Ponca that year, and ordered a 16ft the minute we got home. Both of ours had the walk on roof option, full cabinets, wired for 120V, they were ahead of their time considering back then, the only other option was an open rail trailer. Times were simpler then based on the rigs folks use these days. Now it seems most think you need a Freightliner Coach to haul a couple Cobra's, and a pit bike................
Here's mine, this is the third one I've owned. They tow so much easier than a standard aluminum box trailer. It's a shame that they don't make them anymore.
I'd love to fine one to restore, but they are rather scarce. Happily hand over my money if one could be found
Pro Trac was a different company. They were California. Hi Point was a Penton company (Ohio). Pro Trac’s did somewhat resemble the Hi Point trailer tho.
At one point John Perry (jimmy Perry’s brother) owned pro trac.
Alot of Hi Point trailers that I have seen recently (which isn’t a regular sighting) have aged surprisingly well.
Mine’s roached, but there’s a lot of sentiment behind it. My grandpa and his best friend bought a pair when they were chasing the Black Jack Enduro Circuit in ‘91 (I believe), and I’ve got one of them. I actually just left my dad’s house where it’s stored and was daydreaming about the restoration that needs to happen. Maybe one of these days I’ll start a project thread.
I think the Storbeck family was a franchise dealer of Pro Trac trailers back in the 80’s in Texas. Used to see lots of them at Ponca, World Mini etc. back in the day.
I loved my Hi-Point. I remember waking up in it one morning and the door was frozen shut during the D-14 Silverdome series. Made a bunch of trips to Florida for the winter series. Pulled just great with my 2.8l S-10.
I know where one is
pretty big one,
[ actually seem to recall them having more than one
I want to say Jerry Surber sold them in Texas ? I know they had a shop when he owned Whitney.
Surber sold us our first one, picked it up at Whitney in Spring 83. My folks ordered it in Sept 82, and there was a long waiting list for them then. Took awhile to get, but totally worth the wait.
Please, do tell...........

Git any pics? You aren't far from me if you decide to sell..... A full resto wouldn't be a hassle
I will checkbwith them this week and if they still have them and are interested in selling them I will get back with you
Just sent you a pm, thnx
Thank you! Look forward to hearing from you
You still see them around Ohio, especially if you attend the vintage races. They didn't get far from where they were made. Some people own more than one!
Must have been High Point day, I saw one too, north bound on I-5, somewhere between pdx and Seattle.
We had one in the 90s. Wish I'd have kept it, sadly sold it to pay tuition.
I owed a few....could not stop a gas station without an old mx'er asking if I wanted to sell or at least look inside. Kinda creepy.
From what I remember .... the EPA sent a letter to John Penton regarding the construction of his trailers and he basically said your number one with the middle finger and shut the plant down. Man they were nice and pulled easy regardless of the wind and such....
I know where there is a nice one and I am first in line if they ever decide to sell it.
We bought one in 1988 and still have it. Picked it up at the factory. Its on its second frame, but still gets bikes to the races, I'll look for a photo of it....
found a photo....
Any pics or info? Im always looking for these trailers.
That trailer is freaking awesome, love the high roof with window.
Obviously, there is a hole in the market, time for someone to step up.
