Only $10 for all 2024 SX, MX, and SMX series (regularly $30).
Hopefully it is a new layout for the national. Cool to see something different every so often
If they’re anything like my local track they will make a huge deal about huge track changes then just change 2 jumps haha!!
I doubt they are anything like my local track though.
Sounds like Horn Rapids lol
Cuz it is horn rapids!!!
The Shop
Horn: Huge changes! Added a roller to the inside before the infield
I say put the triple, double double back in.
While they are at it change the start back to this configuration. Lamson would run the tight line along the fence every stinking lap, so freaking gnarly.
I was at the Phoenix supercross, standing and watching practice. I looked up and noticed a guy walking toward me. He was staring right at me, walked right to me, stopped looked deep in my eyes and screamed, “RRRREEEEEEDDDDDDDDDD BBBBBBUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD”, then just walked away. My buddy said what the hell was that. I forgot I was wearing my 2018 MXON Red Bud hat. Let’s go Red Bud.
Gotta love the old school fencing.
😏
This! Also, change the start, first and second turns back to "normal."
It was crazy how close Lammy would ride to that nasty old fence. Completely stay out of the disced up straight and just gas on within arms distance of the fence. I have more pictures somewhere with him even closer.
I remember Guy Cooper doing that triple ever lap. Watching him do it was almost more than I could stand. Just wanted him to quit doing it before I had to see the big one!
Bring back the bus....
dang..and i'm going to Ironman this year.
luckily i went twice to Reeed Buuud and watched that iconic track live
may next year i'll go for the new layout 0_o
I'm thinking something along these lines. It's the next logical upgrade for them:
Oh Bro your crazy sticking your head out to get that pic of Lamson screaming wo in 4th, Good job. I agree the 2x double was the best spot. All the mags pics where from the 2nd one. Emig was probably the best off it style wise.
What changes? Other than cutting out the back and forth on the hillside, what layout changes? Turns up and down the hill are still there and looks like they were cut out to keep lap times down for a local race.
The changes start next week.
I also hope the starting gates are moved back to the old location. It seems possible now that the MXON has been run twice and likely not returning again for a while. The first turn DID have some gnarly crashes in the last few years they ran it though, maybe they'll find a way to improve that.
Pit Row
Lakewood had to make changes slowing the bikes down for the National a couple years ago. Shoot we used to race straigt up the mountain then strait down WFO before the 450F days. Anybody here that knows Billy Liles ask him about riding up to the top at lakewood WFO with his middle finger pressed against Keith Bowens goggle lens during the 2nd moto at the National after dumb ass almost took him out at the bottom I had a nice view right behind them.
How mental is it that there used to be a couple 80's that hit the Valley Triple back in the day! haha
Bring back that massive off camber they used to have.
Please bring back the valley triple and the double step up. Those were epic!
The only thing better than red bud is red bud during the MXoN
Bring back the ski jump
Bring back the black dirt turn after the ski jump
Speaking of ironman ive been soo pissed since they removed the MASSIVE uphill triple after the big downhill. Track was way better that way.
What a great picture of Lamson. I don't know how on earth you can do anything to improve Red Budd!!! Its arguably the best track/facility in the sport. They work extremely hard and do it right!!
Knowing the Ritchie's The track will continue to grow with the HP/ Innovation of the Bikes.
Gene was always changing the track back in the 70's to late 90's to accommodate the excitement of the newer bikes to help the growth of MX. Tim learned well and has kept that tradition moving forward.
How about two " LaRocco's leaps" in succession? Called (First jump) King (second) Kong. after what the original jump was built after "Kong" on LaRocco's practice track.
Just hope there is another MXDN there before I die.
That place is, and always been Home to me.
I just wish they would run the track like they did in 2007 or 2008. Lap times were 2:40ish. It flowed really well too.
Anyone remember that downhill double at Millville sometime in the late 90's? To this day I think it's the nastiest jump ever. Pretty sure they ran it for just one season. Just too dangerous.
