Skid Plates

Ran the Acerbis plastic one last season. Ended up having to cut it off because of bolt issues. It was ok…Looking at Devol or maybe Lite Speed. Anyone have any favorites or long time use of a certain brand?

I've had luck with the Cycra plate in the past. I prefer the plastic over the aluminum, but not much experience with carbon.

Metal will be loud and makes the frame more rigid supposedly. I have the acerbis plastic one and haven't had any issues with bolts. On my KTM there isn't many bolts that hold it on actually. Slips over rear of frame and has 1 bolt in the front of plate to the bracket. There are two small bolts that hold front bracket on. I had a P3 carbon fiber one in the past and it got pretty beat up, but I guess did it's job. But for the price, the Acerbis ones works better for me.

If you think they are great, give an SXS a run.

AXP uses plastic mounts, SXS uses billet aluminum.  SXS also uses a slicker and more durable plastic.

SXS are handmade in the good ol’ USA if that matters to ya.

Quite a few of the big time guys you are seeing running AXP are using SXS mounts to keep the plate to stay on the bike for a whole extreme race. As Team Green would say….”I’m just knowin…”

Don't do much in the way of off-road so prefer a lighter duty plate.  I like P3 stuff ..fits great on my 350 and very tucked in. PXL 20220113 194830509

Love the LightSpeed carbon ones for 2019+ KX450’s. They have two bolt mounting into the available stock frame tabs and offer good ignition cover protection (which is important on this model). Only thing I add is a strip of the soft side of velcro tape to the frame rails, pre-assembly: This helps keep noise down, offers better fit, and saves the frame rails from any rub. Cheers

Gotcha. Was going to suggest the KTM Powerparts composite if you were on an orange/red/white KTM, but obviously wouldn’t help for the Kawis.

Plus Jon is the man! The hand guards are awesome as well.
