Purchasing steel was part of my job during the tariffs. What people didn't understand was that products have price points relative to their value in their respective marketplace, meaning, the price itself is every bit as important as the price relative to something else. It's how we buy pretty much anything, like we wouldn't pay $2.99 for shitty wonder bread when an awesome loaf of bread is $3. Nobody does that.

So when the price of Chinese steel went up due to tariffs, it moved closer to US steel prices, which would have been great if everything were left alone. It would have made US steel a smoking deal and those trying to save on Chinese steel, would have started looking at US steel, which is what they thought would happen, but it didn't. US steel bumped their prices up to maintain the same value relative to Chinese steel, so in the end, all the same people buying Chinese steel, kept buying Chinese steel and tariffs went into the government slush fund and consumers paid more for steel products.

Some things people kept buying, but some things people slowed down on buying. It was a boost for some steel companies and a hardship for others. It ended up being pretty much a wash, with a small amount of jobs lost, but basically a wash. And to be fair, literally every single president implements at least some number of stupid policies, so I don't hold this against him too much. Everything I'm saying seems super basic and obvious, but at the time, we all liked the idea of the tariffs, because we hate how much Chinese garbage we buy and want policies which make American products a better value than Chinese products.

Buying overseas to save money is cheating the economic cycle of products/sales/jobs and kicks off a downward trend that's super difficult to recover from. The intent was good, but ultimately it was someone selling simple solutions to complex problems, which meant it was never going to do what it wanted to do.

Well said! I always find it amazing when people don’t realize the last 3 years inflation has coincided with record margins and profits for basically every corporation globally. Corporations can’t have both of those without raising prices which increases inflation.

Can you direct me to the area that shows these profit margins? I look at earnings reports, overhead, etc as a job and I can't seem to find the section on profit margin for each business per sector. I keep hearing about these massive profits for large corps. I am also trying to find the section on how much money the Fed has printed.  But that doesn't seem to be anywhere either. Do you know where I can find this information?

Energy has definitely been in the news for a bit, just search Shell/Chevron/Exxon/PGE and record profits. Corps love it when there's a publicly available scapegoat, our main politicians, because they can simply add margins and then get to step back in the bushes like Homer Simpson while the people squabble about whose fault it is. It's a win-win for them, they fleece people and then the people blame each other.

It is quite obvious and ridiculous honestly. If any individual wants to actually be informed. The numbers are available you just have to do the work. People need to pay attention and understand the government is not your friend or your big brother who is going to take care of you. Get off your ass, read a book, learn, apply, grow. Red/blue it doesn't matter to an extent. The pendulum swings in both directions at some point.  With that said, I am really not a fan of how this current administration has been BLATANTLY lying about basically everything.

Remember how expensive steel was when Trump was in office? RV's weren't getting pumped out due to axle and frame shortages (which made them increase 70% in price).

Please enlighten me to how it won't be the same again?

This is golden. You do realize that Trump opened up steel manufacturing again yes? It takes time to build US steel supply. Obama shit many steel mills down. If you want to cherry pick it gets you nowhere. Again, you seem to not understand the economics

So you agree that it will raise prices and lower steel reserves? "He opened up steel manufacturing" which raised our prices 70%....I help the purchasing department every now and then and the prices on axels and frames are still higher then they ever have been.

Inflation...been there done that.  There are three ways to battle inflation.  One, make more money.  Two, spend less money.  Three, move to a place that has a lower cost of living.  Prices will fluctuate but will never average what they were five years ago.  We have to adapt and combat bad policies and bad corporations.  Speak with your wallet  and your vote.

Almost forgot, fuck government and all politicians.  It/they do not give a shit about U.S. citizens.

If you were to transcribe most anyone just talking off the cuff...on paper, it would look like complete non-sense most of the time...because text doesn't convey the emotion or context that the spoken word can with voice fluctuations as well as facial and body language.   And sometimes what is written in text and looks great on paper, when spoken sounds awkward and silly.  If you've ever had to write speeches that were to be delivered verbatim, you'd understand this.  I write speeches on a very regular basis...anywhere from 5-10 minutes long to 40-50 minutes long (and spoken to groups in size from a few dozen to several thousand people).  It is difficult.  (I am always amazed at the speech writers talent when writing speeches for world leaders.  It's genuinely difficult to do...then when you can get someone who can deliver the speech in such a way that it makes people feel something.  Thing of Beauty.  I disagreed with Obama politically on most everything, but his speech team and him as a speaker were amazing,  same with Clinton, Regan, etc....Biden, Trump...not so much...they could make the best speech writer in the world look bad...but for different reasons...Biden because he's inept, Trump because he won't stick to the script).

None of those come even close to the bullshit your guy has said...from Haitian's eating pets, injecting the body with disinfectant, to re-drawing hurricane lines...to whatever "policies" and nonsense I quoted above...most of these quotes are even out of context (like half the Kamala video). It's literally the context he chooses "It's the wettest hurricane ever" lmao

I won't disagree that Trump has said some dumb things.  But the doesn't have a patent on saying dumb things...we could go back and forth for pages and pages posting dumb things they've both said...the point is, they both say and do dumb things...so it's a wash in my decision making process.

Like Titan, I agree he says dumb stuff occasionally…

But just so you know, your example of him saying “ the wettest hurricane ever” is just as dumb. No two storms are the same   They can and do vary in how much moisture they carry.

If you haven’t noticed by now, they don’t care. They’ll justify anything to make themselves feel better about supporting him.

They overwhelmingly fall into two groups.

Group 1: They are in so deep they truly do not see what a terrible person he is and what a threat he is to our country. They deflect and project all of that onto whatever opponent he’s running against. “Harris is going to implement Socialism and Marxism immediately!”

Group 2: They know he’s a terrible person and the threat he is to our country, but are conditioned to hate Democrats. They will continuously try to make a false equivalency on X Y or Z issue to make themselves feel better about voting for him. “Well they’re both terrible people who say dumb things so I’ll vote for the policies I like the most!”

As anyone sane knows, the country will be just fine under Harris. And their equivalencies are so insanely outlandish that an unbiased person just laughs at them and shakes their head.

Birds of a feather flock together. Harris can't holder a presser for what 40 plus days now? We all know you have MULTIPLE screen names and can't hold yourself accountable. So lets do this shall we. I am happy to answer ANY question you have as soon as you actually lay your cards on the table and come clean. All you gotta do is state your previous usernames, and why you switched. That is called accountability.  When you hold yourself accountable you get respect from others around you. Because right now... Nobody respects you. Then again.. Harris and Walz are betas.... and neither you or them have backbone

How about this...why am I a fake Christian...I guess I'd need to know how you define a "fake Christian"...if being imperfect and flawed yet trying to follow and exemplify Jesus Christ makes me a "fake Christian" in your eyes, then I guess that's what makes me a fake Christian...and I'll gladly wear that honor, as it means I've given my salvation to Jesus and that I will be redeemed, despite my mistakes and flaws, and only through the atoning grace of Christ.

So...what are your past usernames?

Just explain to me why you’re a fake Christian. There has to be a reason. Shouldn’t be too hard. Come clean.

Come clean.

I honestly don't consider myself a fake christian...So what do you consider a fake christian?

And rather than make me guess...since you apparently know...why not be intellectually honest and just tell me why you are accusing me of being one? You are making the claim, the burden of proof is on you...Are you intellectually honest, or not?

Fake Christian for you would be looking in the mirror.

I’ve asked you to have a civil conversation and you don’t want to. Clearly. So do some self reflecting. Would help you a lot.

And I welcome a civil conversation as soon as you let me know your past usernames...I've already told you that repeatedly...

Welp. I’ll keep the door open. Civil political conversation on a single topic whenever you’d like to make the opening statement. Ball is in your court.

The ball is, and has been, in your court...share your past usernames, and we can talk about whatever you want.  You know this..."come on, man"!

What is a fake Christian?
