When I typically buy riding gear, it is whatevers on sale or a color/style that I like. Ive used different models of Fox, Shift, Answer, Thor, O'Neal and others but all are geared towards MX. They are light and comfortable but dont seem to hold up for long riding offroad. Im leaning towards something geared towards what I ride.
I ride 95% off road in the Mid Atlantic region. MD, PA, WV so rocky, tight, thick undergrowth, wet, muddy, sometimes coal/shale. Seems like it kills the standard moto gear quickly. Any one have experience with gear for off road?
Looks like Fox has their Legion line, Fly has their Scout line, FXR has an offroad line, Leatt has an enduro line. Just a few examples, im willing to try anything.
To sum it all up I am looking for any opinions/experience on off road specific gear. Thanks.
Moose Racing teds to be more focused on offroad gear...very common to see in enduro/hard enduro events. Seems to be a bit more durable than the rest
I've had a surprisingly great experience with the HWK "Adventure" pants available on Amazon. They fit well and have held up great. Not big enough in the knees to fit over braces, but the included CE armor is not bad. If you're on a budget, I'd highly recommend checking them out. There's quite a bit of discussion on ADVRider about this stuff.
It's slowly been replaced by Klim gear. It's pricey, even compared to mainline moto stuff, but I've never been unhappy with anything I've bought from them.
I have found that Klim Mohave and Dakar gear is the longest lasting gear. I'm 100% off road, mountain single track, and desert single track (hare and hounds, hare scrambles, etc.) The mohave is the vented gear (and very vented) and even that doesn't get snagged and torn on trees and branches.
The Klim XC gear isn't nearly as durable though.

And the Mohave and Dakar aren’t any more expensive than the top line offerings from the other more mainstream companies.
Titan, I'm with you on the Klim... my Dakar over the boot pants take a beating and are comfy, the jersey is vented very well also. Very happy with my Klim gear...
