Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing's plans for Justin Cooper have been a hard one to nail down this off-season. However, we finally have clarity on J-Coop's situation on the eve of the season opener in Anaheim. Cooper will not be on the line this weekend but will instead make his 450 Supercross debut as the season heads East for round five at Houston. From there, it sounds like Justin will be on a limited schedule before dropping back to a 250 to prepare for the 2023 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. What do you think of the decision to keep Cooper out of the first four rounds of the season?

It would be nice to know more details of why he isn't doing A1 and why a partial season.

As listed above, the team wants him to focus on the 250 title for the 2023 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. A full 450 season in Supercross, especially as a rookie, raises his chances to pick up an injury.

Just seems odd for two reasons; why skip only four rounds out of seventeen (less than a quarter of the series) and why the first quarter if at all? Still a big risk running 13 rounds as a 450 rookie, and if he ran the opening rounds and got hurt early enough, there’s still a chance he could be back for outdoors.

It's all stragedy to give him exposure to the series while still allowing him to train for 250 Pro Motocross where he is a real contender for the championship this year. Jett will be doing 450 Pro Motocross at that point. Austin Forkner will probably be hurt by then. His only competition will be Hunter Lawerence and Jo Shimoda for the championship.
