Haven’t listened to the latest Pulp episode yet but I’m guessing Matthes is still sceptical that Eli is as good as he was - he argued this stance a few times this year.  Based on recent evidence (since the start of this year) it’s not an unreasonable viewpoint.

In supercross Eli was up and down with some good rides including a couple of battles with Jett, some mediocre ones and some poor ones (by his own standards).  Results wise it was his poorest season for a long time.  His two outdoor rounds were OK, but mostly behind or battling with guys he would have soundly beaten in the past.

He might still rise to maintain his past levels but considering age and injury it’s also possible (probable?) that he will occasionally show those flashes but not enough to threaten for a title.

"Haven’t listened to the latest Pulp episode yet..."

Why comment on this if you haven't listened???

...funny, I could never stand his podcast, it was like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

but over the last year I have learned to enjoy it for what it is, a five hour shit show with too many ad reads, some laugh out loud moments, and some real nuggets of great content.   I just never take it seriously...

I have listened to both the Pulp show and the review show now and i don’t get the ”hate” you are talking about? Nothing he said was wrong, he said that it was a great race for Tomac etc?

Chase on the other hand got some heat..

It's an election year and team Canada is going to draw #36 again at mxdn. I'm sure he is hanging on by a thread.

I'm a grouchy old fuck but I was far happier before I heard the word "hater" or saw boy spelled with an "i".

Agreed one hundred percent. I'm only 43 but this generation makes me feel like an old man.

Haven’t listened to the latest Pulp episode yet but I’m guessing Matthes is still sceptical that Eli is as good as he was - he argued this stance a few times this year.  Based on recent evidence (since the start of this year) it’s not an unreasonable viewpoint.

This is only valid if Jett's in the race. If Jett's not in the race, he's absolutely a title contender.

He's still got it, it just takes longer to come back at a seasoned old age.

Because Matthes and JT have had the same debate a couple of times before.  And I did say I was guessing…

ima keep it simple as this , if u don’t like wht Steve got to say ( which some prolly be taking his takes outta context ) or the direction pulp Mx has gone then just simply don’t listen to it & listen to something else , we got a lot of moto podcasting going on , main stream moto media & YouTube moto media , either tune into some else like title 24 etc…. or start ur own podcast to get ur opinions & voice out there , exactly wht I have been doing in the MMA world , too much candy ass mainstream coverage going on in the UFC , so I started my own MMA & Boxing podcast , starting to gain a lil traction as we speak

Matthes calls it as he sees it. Unfiltered. Take it as you snowflakes want.

First I have heard about Eli being a pure blood…. He was always my favourite rider and this confirms it. What a guy.

It’s still by far the best podcast, and Steve actually spends time at the races. He also is not afraid of having an opinion which is rare  in the 2-3 people we count as „media““ in mx.

it does suck that instead of being happy with a 30min podcast, Steve fills up 20minutes by being difficult with JT and being super obnoxious .
Same thing with Jamie, the way he gets treated (imo) often crosses the line.
I think Keefer should stop doing amateur couples therapy but with him you know he really wants to help and not fill time for sponsors obligations.

'Hater' is one of the most overused words nowadays. It's just another symptom of the hyperbolic use of language that characterizes the internet and media now.

I don't mind Steve most of the time, but I will say that he fucking sucks at playing devil's advocate. In the Charlotte review show when they were talking about Sexton/Windham, he came across like such a fucking moron. He got himself in such a mess and it sounded like both JT and Weege we're getting annoyed with his stupidity.

Not necessarily.  He's always had his favorites whom he doesn't give the same heat as others.  Witness the shit he gave Martin Davalos for years for being in the 250 class forever.  Contrast with this with how he treats Nicoletti, who's both old AF and until recently still fucking around in the 250 class.

I have now listened to more or less every MX podcast after the first SMX race and they all said more or less the same thing for the three first riders.

Tomac: Impressive ride, they were glad that he were back in ”form” again BUT they all feel that he is one level under Jett.

Jett: Praised as the wonder child of the sport and they don’t know what to say anymore regarding his riding.

Sexton: Disapointed with his ride, talk about him being unhappy with the bike again and that he will take a mental blow being beat by Jett this race.

Jett got the most praise, Eli second and Sexton got som heat from all of the pods

No matter if it was Vital, Pulp or title 24 they pretty much said the same thing so can the adults in here just STOP calling people haters just because they have a opinion that don’t allign with your own.

Matthes likes being contrarian, especially if JT is involved. I don't know if he does it just because that is who he is, or if he does it to gain listeners by trying to make his shows more enterntaining. Probably a combination of the two.

This whole Tomac discussion was exhausting. Anyone with any kind of intelligence understood JT:s point. I think Steve did too, but just wanted to be contrarian.

Sometimes Matthes can be a bit much but I actually thought the whole exchange was kind of funny. It did go on a bit long but whatever it’s a five hr pod. I’m good as long as there’s no mandarin on his show and he sticks to moto.

How do you peeps have time for podcast?  People talk too slow.  If a conversation is printed out, I think I can read it 3x faster.
