I’ll add that both of these dudes are deserving of the title and both even have an underdog story. It’s just that Roczen is the underdog of the underdog in this scenario. Crazy that this title has ended up between these two because you’d love to see either of them win!

I would rather see riders who are struggling from round to round get a little bit of air time , there is no shortage of those, or any of the other smaller teams , or maybe a bit of time for the foreign guys, there are 3 Germans doing West, and they get barely a mention. The father and son deal , Bobby and McKayden Fitch was a great opportunity, and while they did give them props, it would have been good , assuming they had realised , but i also know that this type of B roll stuff needs...

That's what the whole shit show is about. They introduced lead in lights 2024 after Jetts incident where he couldn't see the red cross flag. Riders complained about not being able to see a flag until it's to late when there are for example a steep jump face. So warning lights (lead in) where introduced to help them. And only on appointed places depending on track. According to AMA, riders and teams where briefed about it (I know Weigant mentioned it even on TV for SMX). But it's not in the rule book.

The bottom line: IF the AMA did indeed convey the rule about the "lead-in" lights according to their own rule book, and took all required required steps to publish and inform the teams/riders...and the teams/riders didn't pay attention, didn't read the rule book, etc....then this is on the riders/teams. In the past it hasn't mattered if it was by mistake or not. This is a rule that strict enforcement should be the standard. Yah it sucks to be penalized for a flaggers mistake. But it would be worse to have a racer jump when there is a legit red cross flag because they thought it might be a mistake. I realize the AMA doesn't care about setting a precedent and that it seems to not really matter for them. In the name of safety they need to be consistent with the penalty . EVEN if the flag or light...

No one is saying the flag should’ve been out or it was an ideal presentation of the flags. They are saying precedent has been set that if the flag is out you will be penalized if you jump. Doesn’t matter if you saw it, doesn’t matter if there is still someone there, it doesn’t matter. Now they are saying you have to make that decision while racing if you think you see someone down on the backside of a jump. That is the issue, and the AM A got it wrong.

If you side with the AMA's mental gymnastics on this decision, I want whatever you're smoking mate. They didn't follow their own rule book, and didn't penalise people for breaking the rules.
