How many of you would claim a bike?

Too late. Retail for my three bikes combined totals a little upwards of $70k if I remember right. I sought deals and used Black Friday to my advantage, so I didn’t stick that amount into them, thank goodness.

Since I think amateur racing should be something affordable for more riders, I love the claiming rule. Always have, ever since reading about John Roeder claiming a factory Honda. So if I was able to shed 35-40 years from my age and figure out how to actually go fast enough to qualify for LLs, I’d sure as hell claim anything that was built like Deegans Star Yamaha.

I think a rider like Deegan should be embarrassed showing up with anything close to a pro bike. If he’s really got pro championship potential, he should be able to win on a $17k bike. And instead of back room killing the claim, he should raffle off his bike after the race. That’s how you build fans, real ones and YouTube.
