Ok, the last series of crappy pics I will torture you with....
The Johnny O' pic- I own that kidney belt and wore it every time I rode from 1984 through about 1987. After the race was over they held an auction to raise money for one of the Team Tamm riders that was injured earlier that year (can't recall his name anymore).
So many riders donated gear and other items, I wanted to try and buy something so my Dad gave me $20 bucks and said that was my "budget".
I think I held my hand up for everything that was up for auction, but had to stop at $20. Finally towards the end the Johnny O' Answer kidney belt came up, my hand went up, I waited to get out bid again... but I didn't and I won!
When we left that day to drive back home to Arizona in my Dad's yellow Toyota Corolla, I had no idea a few months later it would be closed and gone for good.
The Shop
Do you know or have you heard of lee scheaffers of lees pipes or dean modesset who made pipes for huskys, or neil and keith fearing from galaxy wholesale, or tim tolar, mike raines, dave miller, or bill quals of q & e cycle or norm reeves honda motorcycles?
Dave miller had a business named miler mano around 1977. He sponsored tim tolar and mike raines and myself. He now has DMC concepts.
Here is keiths company and info if you want to say hi.

What is your name?
Did you ever race ocir?
Do you know anyone's name in the first photo?
Number p21 has a collins and sons shirt on. The son was ritchie collins and he raced pro and was fast. Their shop was around 1 mile away from norm reeves where i worked. I see an fmf jersey in there too along with a few very wide handlebars.
I raced with amc mostly but did a few cmc races including a couple golden state nationals, one at saddleback and one at carlsbad. i smashed my nuts and dented my tank on gary ogdens fmf suzuki i bought from fmf after he broke his shoulder when bottoming out on the compression at the bottom of bonzai hill on the start. up until then i was doing great because i was in around 5th place, lol.

Number is actually R21
Wasen't Norm Reeves on Paramount & Alondra? Collins & sons was on Ball Ave in Anaheim.
The site where the track was sits on top of an old dump? What are the politics of the land now?
when i worked at norm reeves in 74, collins and son was on lincoln ave. they may have been on ball road before that but i don't know. mike belisle had a small shop on ball road around 1 mile west of state college.
Pit Row
no saddleback is not on top of the dump. the dump was right behind saddleback and you could see it if you went straight up the start hill and kept going straight instead of making the turn to go onto the track.
nothing is happening with the saddleback land yet.
I was happy but of course one of those those "Screaming Yellow Zonkers" were what l was really dreaming about.
I put a fork kit on those three mil forks. They were like spaghetti. Welded some new laydown shock mounts, put an up pipe on the thing. I had no fucking clue what l was doing. Kids sheesh.
I remember thinking "l can do that" and after plowing into the face of the other tabletop trying to judge the distance l thought the better of it and let it go.
Man that was 44 years ago ! I totally forgot about Norm Reeves having 3 stores.
You’re Right Collins & sons Was on Lincoln.
everyone from norm reeves went to a superbowl around that time 75 or 76. it was the one that jeff jennings raced a 125 bultaco in for the support class or something. gary fishburn put so many additional ports in that cylinder that it looked like swiss cheese. i rode it in the parking lot of the paramount store when gary was trying to tune the tillotson carb.
our manager was art smith and he had a new huge motorhome, and the day of the race he threw me the keys and a wad full of cash and told me to fill it up with gas and supplies but i didn't tell him that i had never driven anything bigger than my econoline van or 64 dodge truck, lol, so i took it and filled the bathtub with ice and several cases of beer and got a few bags of chips etc. when it was time to leave for the race, he gave me the keys again and said your drivin. man i was kinda freaked out driving that thing on the freeway and around town in traffic.
I’ve met Johnny O, Tomac, the Martins, Tickle, Troy Lee, Millsaps, Ryno, Ward..
I think they use them as training rides during the outdoors.
Anyway...WTF was the track in relation to the lake?
