I hate thieves with a passion that borders on insanity.....know I shouldn't but I rejoice a little anytime hear a thief gets blown away....the old saying is the only good thief is a dead thief

Glad some news is coming out of this and people are getting their bikes back.

Not sure how many guys have insurance, but I just added my bikes to my Gieco insurance and covers 3 bikes for about $20 a month. Living in LA, I have everything on lockdown with an alarm also. But food for thought if anyone is wondering about cost.

Sorry for the loss, very personal to have someone go inside your garage.

Also, this thing saved me 50 times.
Put the receiver box where you can walk by and see it.

I ran a switch from my garage door to turn on a bright red LED in my bedroom if the garage was left open... not a bad investment, especially when $50 for it could save you thousands in stolen items.

DF313, that is a great idea. Leaving bikes unlocked is a big deal to me but I still manage to leave shop open once or twice a month. I will be adding this feature, Thanks!

We fucked up when we quit hangin horse thieves.

Regarding insurance, and geico, those bastards canceled my policy after I inquired about the bikes getting stolen at the track when I heard of other locals being denied claims with them. A week after that call they sent me a letter dropping both my bikes. I now have Progressive and they specifically state on their website they cover “motocross” bikes.

The people I talked to at geico didn’t even have a clue when asking about the bikes either. “What do you mean it doesn’t have a key?” “Are there any anti theft devices installed?” Not a good sign.

Well I said I would update when I could. Looks like the thieves tried to make it a husqasaki. Rattle canned it back with green hubs and handguards. Technician at husky dealer finally identified it for ADOT after he plugged it in. Engine is in good shape. Plastics are basically trashed. Tires are bald. Chain guide and right rear axle block are missing. Chain and sprockets will be replaced. I will tear it down to the frame and fix it all. Left footpeg is cracked, but pipe, bars, radiators are all straight and good. It sat for 9 months!! In a tow yard before they pulled it back out and identified it via dealer. Major components appear undamaged just painted. I hate thieves.

This thread sparked me to get insurance for my new 17 KTM 250 SX-F. Progressive got me Comp coverage (theft, fire and vandalism) with a 250 deductible for actual cash value +3000 in accessories for $96 for the year. I paid in full and now have piece of mind. My kids leave the garage door open all the time.
