The pricing is almost identical to Yamaha.

If you want to discuss the overpriced topic, go buy parts for a Husky or KTM. Its almost double to costing compared to RM's and YZ's.

Complete seat for a rmz450 $350. Fc450 $125.

I really cant be bothered to argue, just sharing my experience of owning Suzukis and huskys.

Best of luck to anyone that wants to pull a new engine out their heavy rmz250 and shoe in a motor from 2005 that's way down on power compared to the competition.... dont forget to pony up for a complete Hinson if you can find them.
Who is wanting a stock seat? Especially on an RMZ 450? Aren't those heavy? Probably why they cost so much... and Suzuki probably isn't making many extra stock seats for OEM Replacement. Low supply and demand. Low production run. High cost.

Another example is the seat, the plastic is old and brittle and once you've changed out the seat cover a couple of times, it's a wild goose chase finding another.

I can't speak for AUS but in the USA, Suzuki parts are expensive. Take the lower fork leg that I need for my 06 RM250 as an example. Prices are from Rocky Mountain.

06 RM250 $442
06 YZ250 $316
06 CR250 $243
06 KX250 $253

Everyone I know buys all of their cross over parts from Honda. It is half the cost for consumable fork parts.

This is what I said when they debuted the new style chassis in spy photos and the magized test in Japan. The only reason they would change the front of the frame and rails to make it a center port exhaust was to be able to put a 2 stroke motor in it. Does not make sense to do that otherwise.

Talked to a few people ive had the pleasure of meeting over the years and they're saying it's not just for a 125 2 stroke but also the 250 two stroke. At least it has been heavily discussed. The idea for the 250 is to reproduce the last 250 motor in short runs with mods to fit this chassis and do the yamaha thing updates only if you have to.

I like the ideas no risk, tons of reward.

Of course not but i only have two days a week off and couldn’t justify buying a new bike period with the amount it’d get ridden. Just out of curiosity do you think if suzuki did this and someone regularly switched engines they’d notice wear on parts more with one than the other?

Anyone know the 19 RM-Z 250 enough to confirm that these are unmodified frame rails as being discussed? They do seem pretty OEM-looking.

From what I understand the 125 kit will be a real thing. For myself I wish they were also doing a 250 kit or full bike. I feel there are a lot of Vet or bigger riders that would jump on one. The other 250 two strokes are still the choice of bike for many of these riders on a local level but not many are on a 125.

Different frame rails on RM-Z 250. Engine mounting tab is in different location

If they are delivering conversion kit it won't be just simple bolt on job...

Hmm that's a shame to see, unless this is a prototype with new frame rails etc., and the 'kit' will just be a bracket and spacers for the engine mounts.

Also noticed the hose that comes out the back of the right hand rad near the exhaust - 125 setup has to go down to the waterpump avoiding the 2 stroke pipe. All of a sudden i'm seeing dollar signs...

I think only way this would make any sense is that Suzuki would come out with complete bike.

Maybe new engine cases and some other updates to the engine. like porting and head shape?

It could be more wear on parts for both. Using more brakes on a two stroke since there isn't engine braking. More weight and power with a four stroke could wear certain consumables faster like tires etc. My concern would be suspension. Something like Kreft has would be ideal I would think.

That turns A RMZ250 into a 125
Basically selling separately a 125 motor that bolts Right in.
That sounds super sweet to me.
Would that Be enough to make you choose to Buy a RMZ250 if you where planning to buy a 250f ?
I think it would me. Just knowing there is an option to go back and forth is really Rad.

All I want is for Suzuki to release a new 125 and 250 in this chassis. Is that to much to ask? I would sell my 19 KTM250sx in a heartbeat and buy one of each.

I’d have to strongly consider a 250 to throw a big bore in based on looks alone. Laughing

That would be sweet and I'm sure everyone would love it! Or just sell the same two strokes from the mid 2000's like Yamaha and update the appearance Smile

Nice looking bike! Just need yellow rims vice black. Kudos to Suzuki if this happens. Look forward to hearing more about the engine. Has it been tweaked from mid-2000s engine? I had an 06 modded to a 144 and that bike was a blast!

Guesses on what a motor swap would do to weight? Previous RM-125s were in the 190s.
