Mazda dropped Yamaha a couple years earlier for 5/6 years without any outside sponsorship until San Manuel jumped in. That's when the economy took a dump and all the Factory teams were looking for money.

Now the public have more access to technology and in sites to what factory parts are made etc..
Id love to get my hands on an early 2000' 2 stroke to see how factory i could get it, If not.. better then a factory bike with all the technology we have these days.
Seems he wasn't happy with how the rear suspension of modern bikes work.

What does an early 80's Honda factory bike weigh?
Magnesium hubs and backing plates, steel spoke retainer on front hub, titanium brake shoe pivots and cams, machined liners in hubs, aluminum wheel spacers, quick release brake actuating rod, billet titanium chain adjusters...
Rumour had it that was one of the most expensive 2 strokes at that time and filled with one off custom parts. Would love to see what goodies they had made for that bike.
