Moto_123, Nice Job! Looks just like Henry or MC's 95 factory bikes. Are you going to ride it?

Nice job indeed moto_123.

What brand of frame guards did you end up getting?

And what brand rear sprocket is that?

Start saving for those engine covers - you will sit back with a big smile on your face when they are on your bike... Wink

I found some used works connection ones that I cleaned up. As for the sprocket, I know it "should" be a renthal, but this one's a white bros.

I swapped 917 my Team Peak replica 93 CR250 and a core 96 CR250 for his 93. To see how it looks now, click on my icon. DJ and his buddies are awesome! The bike is really well done. I have changed a few things... It's kinda a Stanton replica now.

I also agree 110% on the UK engine covers. They are incredibly well crafted, and sturdy-- although 917 thinks they're on the heavy side :-)

Don't be so tight. Put your hand in your pocket and buy those Honda Racing ignition and clutch covers, you know it makes sense! You won't regret it, just don't tell the wife!!

You can use any of the Honda fork guards. They all fit, KYB or SHOWA. I'm running some natural colored ones off a current CRF on my 96 KYBs and they fit fine. If you use the 2002 or newer version you will need the Aluminum brake hose holder as the earlier steel part holes are spaced wider.

Thanks for all your help guys, you've been great . What year or years front disc brake cover will also fit a '96 CR250 I'm looking for a white cover.I had a '96 CR250 a few years ago that had suspension work done to it before I bought it. the bikes suspension worked great, it had a white spring on the shock instead of the stock yellow one.Does anyone on here have any experience or tips for dialing in the suspension on a '96 CR250,Thanks Cavy.

I would use an OEM natural colored disc guard off the 97 CR125. You could use the fork guards off that bike as well and it will match perfect.

As for the 96 suspension, I actually think it is pretty good when you get it set up. It's definitely the best of the 92-96 CR's and only needs fiddling with the oil height and spring rates. The well regarded KX's in 1996 had the exact same forks with the exception of springs and oil. I think MXA has the best set up advise so I start by setting it up as they recommend. Here it is:

Stock the forks are harsh so you are going to want to lower the oil height and put stiffer springs in.

Fork Springs: .43 kg/mm (.41 is stock)
Oil Height: 115mm (stock is higher at 92mm measured from top of fork leg when compressed with the spring in)
Compression: 8 out
Rebound: 10 out
Fork Height: flush
Fork Oil: KYB 01

The shock is opposite of the forks and needs a slightly softer spring. I use a 5.5 Kg/mm Ti Spring off a YZF450 which works awesome for me. It has a livelier feel, is two pounds lighter than the stock steel spring and looks factory. If you want one I have some I'd sell you reasonably. Or, I have an extra complete rear shock with the Ti spring if you need it.

Shock Spring: 5.4 kg/mm (5.6 is stock)
Rider Sag: 105mm
Low Speed Compression: 5 out
Hi Speed Compression: 1 1/4 turns out
Rebound: 13 out

Give it a try and I think you will be very happy with it. I also ride a YZ250 with the SSS suspension and I think 96 KYB stuff is comparable in performance when you get it set up right.

I also replaced the swingarm pivot bolt with a Titanium one that saves a 1/4 lb. over the steele one.

Hey I just bought a 93, and I tried to order a front Disc Cover for it, I could not see or find a OEM for it. Did it come with one originally ?
The only one I could find is a Polisport for a 95, I thought it would be the same but it's not. Sad

Acerbis does not seem to make one ether, do any of you know of a stock or after market one that I could get for it ?

Also I would like to find some 95 Red side plates , do any of you know were I could get some stock or after market ones for it ?

No disc cover for the 93. The CRs didn't start coming with them until 95. Don't
waste your money buying a later model cover because there is no way to bolt it
up to the 93 fork lug.

If you want the original "Nuclear" Red color plates, the only place still making them
is UFO. Also, the Left side plate is still available from Honda but the Right side
panels are long gone.

Good luck with your restoration.

Does a 96 cr125 share the same linkage bearings as a 96 CR250.

Anyone looking for Ti axles and a Ti swingarm pivot bolt (with Ti nuts) that would fit CR 125-250 '93-'96? PM me for details and what you think they are worth (what you would be willing to pay me for them).......I no longer have a need for them and looking to sell them. For new models, this set-up would go for $1100.......and these aren't easy to find . Not looking to make a killing but not looking to give them away either. Thanks.

Hi, I just finished installing new swingarm/linkage bearings on my '96 CR250 and had the bike apart for a couple of weeks waiti'n for parts. I can't remember how the small spring that mounts to the rear brake pedal goes on. I see the hole under the brake lever where one end of the spring mounts but can'y see where the other end of the spring mounts to.If anyone could post a picture of underneath their rear brake pedal or look and tell me how it mounts I appreciate it,Thanks.

Not sure if you saw my reply in the other thread, but look at the frame at the swingarm pivot, right where the swingarm bolt slides through. There should be a small hole in the frame to mount the top of the rear spring.

If you look at the frame where the swingarm bolt slides through and do not see the hole to mount it, and you've recently repainted the frame, the hole may be covered/filled with paint if it was applied too thickly.

let me know if there is anything I can help with. I may have some parts you need: an airbox from a 96 (dark gray) that will fit your 93 as well as a complete front end ie forks, clamps, axle, etc. (in case you want to put current Showa fork components on your CR). I also have an extra 96 carb, wheel set, brake sets, etc. If you want to get your fasteners replated so they look like new, I know a great place here in Houston for that.

I have the frame painted on that 93 so it will be going together soon. I'll post pics as I go along.

Get some pics of your MC Replica project up here!
Hi, is that seat the original seat of the bike? do yo know were i can buy an original 93/94 seat cover?

If it's a Ti YZF 450, it will fit. I have a spare one if you need it. $75.

I have a '96 CR250 and need a chain slider.Checked for a stock Honda oem one and there discontinued. Anyone know if any other years chain slider might be made to work? I see that a '92 & '93CR250 chain slider are different part numbers but wondered if they would work on a '96CR250Thanks Cavy

I had the same problem finding one for my 93 cr250. The only one I was able to find that works for it was from UFO, and the only way to get it was to order it directly from them online. It was like $21 plus shipping..
