As promised it's in the bedroom! Much more comfortable atmosphere to finish it up.

Works rotors from Guy's stash of spares. These will replace the ones that were rusted so badly when I got it. Rear has never been mounted and the front was used while testing in Ocala, FL before the 91 Daytona round. Guy told me a great Ocala '91 story tonight, their convoy of factory box trucks had left the test track one day and while on the highway his mechanic jacked the brakes real hard for some reason and the water tank straps broke, I guess the water tank dropped and took off down the highway like a torpedo passing the other box trucks as it went. Lol. Thought some of you would get a kick out of that, I know I did. Lol.

I saw you mention silencers before...What year model works silencer are you needing?

I love this resto.
Really pleased that it's been sympathetic, and you've retained as much of the originality as possible.

Again, thanks for the complements guys. Not much left to go before she's back to her former glory. The chain is soaking in PB Blaster, chain guide is on it's way (old one was toasted), works translucent acerbis number plate is on it's way, the missing 6 decals are being made and Guy is still trying to find me a works front brake lever that isn't U shaped. Lol.

i have built one such silencer, but i am working on another that more closely resembles the works silencer. I do wonder what size that front rotor is because I do not believe they were any bigger than 230 & 240mm back in the day (not like the 280mm stuff they use today).

Awesome to see one of Coops bikes all cleaned up!! I thought he was the coolest (still do!) when I watched him race in the early 90s and got to meet him at Vegas one year......then he raced a local track (Stacey Cook) in Grand Junction I was in also. He and Jimmy Gaddis tore it up that night!
Thanks for the writeup!

The proper NOS works acerbis translucent number plate showed up today, the only non stock part that Guy didn't have for me. So glad I found one as that white UFO plate was making me sick. Lol

Nice, these are hard to come by these days, I found mine (below) on ebay a few months back. Initially I purchased the white one thinking I would never find the translucent plate, but lone behold it showed up on ebay...Yeah!

Lol, yep, same here. Bought the white one and two days later spent a pile of money on the correct translucent one. Funny how awful the white one looks when you know it's not what belongs on there.

Got all the correct decals on at last. Only had to have 5 made up that Guy didn't have any of.

Lol, those aren't wrinkles I promise. That is my wife's fancy ceiling fixture making the gripper material shine on one side. That's funny, does look like wrinkles in the pic. You gonna leave your van running for 3 hours in my yard again this year?

The way I see things is that, ultimately mechanics are mechanics, not upholsterers. A crease or two is to be expected, and race bikes will be imperfect.

I like detail on this bike like the original ratty bit of heat wrap behind the side panel.

It's its imperfections that make it a good build. A tiny crease on the underside of the seat is in-keeping with its history as a proper used-and-abused factory machine, and not a garage queen.

this statement is 100% correct, my ex dad Ed Longacre was Lusks mechanic and he gave me a tecnosel seat that he installed and couldnt get the wrinkles out of, it still dont make it rite
