"Ram air induction is the forced induction of flow due to air flow being compressed (pressurized) into an inlet from the conversion of kinetic energy (velocity). Air is considered incompressible below speeds of about Mach 0.3 or 230 mph."
The Shop
The standard air inlet may be in a turbulent flow area under some conditions and experience negative pressure preventing the engines demands being met.
A carefully configured scoop- or a NACA duct- can ensure that the inlet receives a positive feed of air.
That is different to 'ram air'- velocity supercharging- and makes sure the inlet has a positive supply of cool air so not in a low pressure region. This is very easy to test with simple manometers.
All you talk about is airflow, not ram air.
Those vent and side number plate hole help the engine suck that air in in the intake stroke by having a easier time "finding" air to suck in. Basic understanding of a completely sealed airbox vs no restriction at all.
Those vent at MX speed won't do shit when the valve open, it won't forced more air to enter the combustion chamber. You won't have more air than what the engine is sucking by itself, you need crazy speed to do so.
Those Yamaha vent could face backwards and I'm ready to bet a lot of money that you would get the same results as the one facing forward. It is just more aesthetic, look cool and act as snake oil to catch some fish like you
Again, basic hole drilled into the cover would do the exact same job. It is just not aesthetical
What we actually do is set the bike up with pressure measuring devices, ride it and record the results.
That is the first thing to establish, not assume.

KTM use a similar set up on their 250cc Moto3 road race bikes.

Anyways looks good. I just finished prototyping a new idea last night, so I can appreciate the number of hours that go into just making the appearance look so good. Much less making a product that works to your own expectations.
Props to the op on a good looking product. 👍
It's not about 'ram air'. It's about ensuring the inlet gets clean airflow to assure positive pressure, rather than disturbed, turbulent flow that can have the air going the wrong way.😏
