I reckon top twenty in his class.

I think he can be top 20, maybe top 10. But there are 600 riders in the race, he is going to have to figure out how to handle 580 lappers quick. They will be blocking the full width of the track for most of the race, 2nd lap around is a wall of lappers. The top guys go straight over them or just push through, it will be the toughest event he has ever done. But I am hoping to see him at the front.

Weston isnt a Beach, its a mud flat, if you dig a hole 6 inches deep, its a 6in deep puddle in 2 seconds. Tide comes in faster than you can run .

Skill it in staying out of the ruts, and understanding that the the bit that looks deep , is shallow, and the bit that looks shallow is deep.

Rode it back in the 80's , its a great weekend, Barcia will either bury it on lap one , or run out of clutch

If he finishes , it will be impressive.

Its the first round of the French Beach series this weekend, so Kellett will be there.

He for sure smokes the clutch on the first lap. Edited to say. I don’t think he will ruin it because I think Tomac is probably harder on clutches. These guys are good at backing off when they need to.

I don't know about Kellet, but Billy posted a video from Sea to Sky's prologue on his IG yesterday, so that's where he is.

Pastrana did at his peak, he won the first 1klm. Didn’t get anywhere near finishing though, first hard enduro section he was out. Awesome that he tried. Mx is just who can be fast in the easiest form of riding, technical riding is just not entertaining to watch for the 99% that are numbnuts.

Every time I watch the pros slalom through a forest at warp speed my brain freezes up.

I would expect top 5.

I read the same thing , he broke in a stock bike today , he said he'll ride a few laps and maybe come back on a better set up bike

Its a 'British Thing'  to say someone is racing when they wont be , to the point where it is no longer a surprise.

Likely being paid more than the guys that will win, just for being there.

In almost his first sentence he says " I've Never seen the beach race before"

Seriously, he's entered a major Beach race, with no previous vision of it?

Madness.

As philG wrote, he's probably being paid more than what the race winner will get. I hope he amounts to good value for the event.

Watching Kellet (was him?) getting through the swarm, was quite the thing - somehow finding the gaps.

My mechanical sympathy goes out to all the bikes being trashed by it.

Sidecar (if you are out there)  : you doing it again?

Where can I watch? 🍿🍿🍿

You need to stand on the freezing beach in an inch of water and see it live.

Impossible to follow to livestream it, without helicopters and a huge budget .
