How is Barcia going to go in this event? It’s more of an extreme enduro type of event, can he do well?

I don’t see how his bike will survive

I think it’s very cool to see a few riders branching out.

I think the extended WFO aspect will be most challenging for him, so many bikes, insanely high speeds, etc. Love this event and glad he is doing it.

Doing well is subjective. Barcia is a one of the best dirt bike riders in the world and he can show up to any dirt bike race and do better than the vast majority. But will be beat the top tier riders in that discipline? Probably not.

Lot of luck involved at Weston & there’s a degree of learning the whole process of the race.

Had a bud finish 3rd one year and he was a pretty decent rider but not anything outstanding just kept chugging along staying out of trouble.

He won’t be able to “ bam - bam” it that’s for sure - it’s a combo of bike management, setting a sustainable pace & not getting snarled up .

Top 5 .

Didn't Herlings and The Hoff each win it a handful of years ago?

ETA: I think Barcia will do ok. Fitness and going wide open have never been issues for him, but bike management might come into play.

Its contract year next season. I say he gives it 100% and wins.

I think Lars Van Berkel may have something say about that.

I think he will do pretty well, guy knows how to ride ruts and mud so deep heavy sand he will do good in. Certainly will need a big tank on there for Barcia.

Herlings yes, Hoff no. Everts won one, but these days it tends to be more specialist and Todd Kellett is going to take some knocking off the top spot. He has a natural ability to understand navigating traffic, looking after his bike and running a consistent pace. Barcia will go ok, will likely really enjoy himself and top five is definitely possible.

Is Todd Kellet competing this year?

Fair point, I don't know. Assumed he would be but we know what assumption is...

Depends how the competition takes to the Wildthing51 style of riding.  Ramming and Slamming his way to a top 5 !

Is the Weston race streamed or do we need to wait for someone to create a video and upload it?

That racing tactic won't work at Weston...

It’s all about being in the right place at the right time in traffic jams.

And, to finish first, first you must finish.

It all comes down to how fast you can ride at 85-90%. Better sand riders than Barcia have had a go at Le touqet with so-so results.

One tip over can ruin your race time-wise and the race distance at the beach races make it hard for the mx riders to be up at the top.

The guys that are in contention for the win have hours of suspension testing, fuel/tank testing and know how they have to pace their body to make the distance at a high pace.

As someone said, this is a whole different dicepline, it will have more in common with a GNCC race than a MX race so if he finnish in the top 10 i think that would be good.

Anticipating what lappers are going to do and making split second line choices are a massive part of it.

Probably one of the more underrated careers. Been in factory teams since 2009. That’s impressive as heck. I remember racing him on 65s and 80 when his bike was duct taped together and he was sleeping under a tarp.  Glad to see he’s enjoying himself

Herlings won, with De Dycker second and Shaun Simpson third.

Justin will be fine - there are plenty of motocross riders who have lined up, won or done well.

He'd be the favorite to win but since he'll be on vacation and spending time with the in laws, I suspect he'll be sampling the adult beverages too much and be a little under the weather on race day.

I sure hope he does!  These guys have such a short off season they need to cut loose. To ride a race for fun just shows that riding dirtbikes is just plain fun!  To suffer through a beach race on vacation is just awesome in my opinion. I’d love to spend a vacation that way!  Haha.
