It's been clear since the beginning.  Over promising all these amazing rounds and thinking they were going to attract all the best riders, then retreat their behavior at A1 and act like they didn't mean it that way....and then cutting the series short and then shorter.....hired Roczen who will likely lose a ton in this deal only to have rounds still cancel and now likely more to come.  There were about 10 fans at the first round yet they are spending millions and millions.  That does not add up to anything sustainable.

Agree.  Basically, the factories in combination with Feld and MX Sport wanted no part of WSX and have strangled it almost out of existence through prohibitions (I presume) on any factory riders taking part and through the creation of the SMX series.

I reckon Roczen will be paid regardless.  Him and his agent would know that there's a risk WSX would go tits up and would have clauses guaranteeing he gets paid if the series doesn't continue.  Of course, if WSX goes bankrupt that would be a different story.

it will be too hard and costly for privateers to make it. May not seem like it but they are the “backbone” of the sport

I have not seen a single thing in the local Greater Vancouver media about the event. No ads on radio, no ads on TV. I'm guessing neither the Canadian or German governments are kicking in cash like Singapore and the UAE and I'd be very surprised if these rounds go ahead.

they will also have to deal with the FIM federation in the country concerned, can't imagine the CMA is easy to deal with,

Yeah you are correct, I probably didn't word it correctly. I meant the playoffs part of SMX, take it on the road, best of the best on the world stage.

Singapore and Germany are cancelled. Canada not confirmed yet, but I guess it will be cancelled too.

Abu Dhabi and Australia are confirmed, for now.

So I guess technically we're nearly at the halfway point of the 2023 season now, right? 🤦

Haha that is a good question, the suspense is building (monthly) but he is definitely on track to become the first 2x World Supercross champion 😂

Sucks for the privateers like Moranz who were using the series to help fund their privateer efforts in the state and also finally getting a shot at being on a team. Watching his WSX prep vlog you could tell how much it meant to these guys. Running a series is hard obviously, Feld has it down, and WSX likely overestimated things. But hopefully, SX and MX were shook a bit and realized that their series may eventually face a legitimate threat.

Why Europe couldn't just do SXGP January through May (Even every other week would be enough) then MXGP May through September.

It works in America.

I don't disagree regarding the dates, but WSX isn't a European property.

I'm surprised though that FIM allowed WSX to go head to head with MXGP. Maybe they will put a little more thought into the schedule when shopping for their next SX partner.

I really don't think that's the problem...

I don't think the factories are "prohibiting" the riders from doing it.....the factories are American Teams that hire their riders to ride the American series.  They do not have the budget to send riders around the world in a competing series where many of the dates overlap....not to mention the team structure does not support the factory riders being involved.  I like what they were trying to do and more riders making money is great, but it was a joke from the start.

So far, he’s not been wrong on any World SX info he’s brought to my attention before.

The extended rumor that I’ve been hit with by three different people in the last hour is that they may have lost their primary funding. Speculation is this could be the end of it. This has all just started circulating though, so we’ll have to wait and see.

So we now know the extra pay for mx/sx and "play-offs" are done as well after this year Whistling

Neither the budget nor any commercial interest.

The purse is large at the SMX races because the factories weren’t willing to put up a third championship bonus for their riders so I wouldn’t expect that to change. Remember, the SMX series was planned and in the works before WSX was even a thing. It wasn’t a reactionary move to WSX.

If it’s true it’s a massive blow for us sx fans around the world. Yea we would all love to go watch American supercross but flying halfway across the world just isn’t feasible. Imagine watching a sport for your whole life but never getting a chance to see it live, we’ve had that opportunity and although it’s not been American level it’s been the closest thing we’ve had. For that to go is really upsetting.

man, this will go down as one of the WORST "launches" of a new series in history. From last year's 2 race "championship" to this year's shit show.....jeez. RIP WSX.
