So what's the story with these? Do they source parts right from Yamaha? Do Yamaha parts fit?

Are these good bikes or junk?

I don't know much but I like the way they look.

It's all Yamaha, with styling by Fantic and possibly tuned to their specs.

I don’t understand what OP is asking here?

So Yamaha should buy Fantic to own another brand? Why would they want to do that?

They sort of already did... Or at least the motor part of it when they bought Minarelli.

I’m starting a dirtbike brand! You’re starting a dirtbike brand! WE’RE ALL STARTING A DIRTBIKE BRAND!

Almost as trendy as the “OMG 20X ENTRIES IF YOU BUY ONE T-SHIRT” giveaway brands lol.

Forreal though someone make the Operah meme

I have no idea what any of this means. But I felt the same way when power valves came out.

The bike won the Italian Enduro Junior (125) class over the weekend. Impressive debut.

White label motocross bikes.

I can't wait to read the tests!

So Fantic can release a Yamaha with good looking updated plastic but Yamaha can't do it for the past 15 years. Got it.

So the YZ125 and YZ250 chassis and suspension is quite good already right?

So taking that, making the bodywork more appealing, and making the necessary changes to the comparatively weak engine sounds like a pretty darn good idea.

Honestly Yamaha should just have contracted/bought the company and released this as the new 2021 YZ lineup.

Yamaha makes money off of this deal. I could see a scenario where Fantic develops the engines to the point Yamaha steps in and buys the design changes and puts them in to production. Saving them millions in R&D.

Yeah Yamaha wont give away bikes for them to fiddle with Tongue .

I dont think it´ll be millions in savings for Yamaha though since Fantic isnt designing a new engine, just modifying the current one. But a few bucks yeah.

More importantly Yamaha should buy the designs on the improvements just to provide a better bike for the consumer since they have no interest in doing it themselves. Win/win/win

It's a YZ 125 with someones "Mods" and then throw on a different set of plastics...then rename it. Nothing special really.

Plenty of guys out there who can build fast 125s.

Looks like a GYT type power up kit is also coming.

"Fantic have also announced from November 2020 the first performance ‘Evolution Kits’ will be available for the models (all the details on them below) and developed by their in-house racing team and led by legendary engineer Jan Witteveen."

There is also an enduro model and a 250f.

GasGas had a deal with Yamaha several years ago to supply 4 stroke engines but would not allow them to be sold in the US. That was about to change and Yamaha agreed to let them be sold in the US but the first GG bankruptcy happened and the whole thing fell apart. Fantic had some new prototypes several years ago that looked promising but that also fell apart. Fantic currently is in the E Bicycle business that is booming in Europe. Not sure what motorcycling manufacturing capabilities they still have. Having been in the boutique bike business for a decade or more I now take press releases with a grain of salt. Its interesting as much from a Yamaha perspective as it is from Fantic.

And then put them into production with a global dealer network, parts support, a 20 year partnership building motorcycles for the Japanese motor OEM, and a 50 year track record as a motorcycle manufacturer?

I would guess that is not "plenty", but instead, a very small pool of guys,

Did Fantic ever stop manufacturing motorcycles? I mean, I know they stopped exporting competition dirtbikes and trials bikes, but I think they have continued to pump out small-bores with Minarelli (Yamaha) motors all along...

I'm not sure. But I don't think they ever totally stopped production.

Fantic's are nothing new, I remember seeing them at the 1973 Berkshire ISDE in Massachusets. They had a really strong presence in trials bikes also, I think even a World championship or two.
