I was wondering where the "KTMs are better than everything and Yamaha sucks" thread of the week was. Ahh here it is.

I think if you would quit arguing about your personal experience with the brand and look at the statistics you would see that they have been dominant. The whole package from the bikes, manager, mechanics, TRAINER, and riders are top tier.

The results in MXGP aren't bad either.

Roger D manages Team Honda 80's/90's....they improve the bike, hire the best riders, win everything.
Roger D manages Team Suzuki 90's/00's....they improve the bike, hire the best riders, win everything.
Roger D manages Team KTM/Husky 010's....they improve the bike, hire the best riders, win everything.

There are exceptions of course and Kawasaki has has their own great runs of titles, but Roger really has proven to create winning Teams over decades.

This seems about right. Do Roger's teams hire the best riders or do the best riders want to work with him? Dungey for one...perhaps winners are drawn to each other.

I rode a 2019 FE Husky 450 the other day and have to say I can't imagine anything being close to that good. Webb jumping on that and immediately being better is very understandable. I think if Eli was on one he'd be a little better as well.

I remember when MXGEOFF posted a thread here about 5 years ago claiming KTM would soon begin to dominate US SX and MX and would eventually establish themselves as the next 80's era Team Honda. Of course, his sanity was called into question and a Vitard beatdown of epic proportion quickly ensued. As much as I still think MXGEOFF is a DBag, he got that one right.

The week MM25 won his first race that looked like a scripted game plan to me. And if you have half of the top ten on the same brand, thats going to get harder and harder to compete with if you on a Japanese bike.
And I'm guessing The Man is the Coach of the players in this game.
That race looked like a training day run for those guys.
The Japanese have significantly more resources than KTM. At any moment they can redesign their bikes, if they wanted to.

I guess nobody remembers when Honda’s took almost everything, from the late 60s until McGrath left? I also remember when KTM was lucky to get a top 10.

McGrath left Honda in 97. TwentyTwo years ago. I remember when if you were not riding a Bultaco, a Maico, CZ or Husky, you were not going to do well.
But this isn't 45 years ago. Any more than this is 22 years ago.

The Japanese have amazing resources and engineering available. But they're not using those resources building dirt bikes. KTM is.

It’s a fact that when the economy turned downward the Japanese held what they had and stopped developing new products. People should be happy the motocross sector didn’t follow the 600 sport bike sector. This opened the door for KTM. KTM did the opposite and began rapid development and spending on their motocross bikesduring this time.

People ought to be thankful to KTM otherwise we would likely still be riding 2007/08 models in 2019. KTM forced the others to at least invest something.

Now the economy is turning back and KTM is a force. It will be interisting to see what the Japanese do.
