Sugar on Apple+. Going to have to give it a pass and not recommend it. Though I'm a big fan of LA area shot stuff.
Sooooooo, how's everyone liking the latest season of The Boys?
Ok, I ran across something cool, cool for me. It really kind of freaked me out because it was so weird seeing it. I have been going to Indonesia at least twice a year for a month at a time since 2007. I always stay in the same town, Semarang and the same hotel, an old Dutch Colonial hotel, Candi Baru. I've bounced around many rooms but I mostly stay in the big room 20' x 30' with a side room 10' x 30', 23' tall ceilings and a 20' x 30' balcony. I can jog laps in the room. Its a cool place and has always been rumored to be haunted. I've had taxi drivers that wouldn't take me there because they were scared lol. I was there in January and they told me they filmed a horror movie there. I was like cool as they told me all about it and their experience while filming. I had no idea it would come out on Netflix named The Haunted Hotel.
The movie is ok not great or anything. It has subtitles and it kind of shows the Muslim Indonesian culture a little with the praying but as a horror movie it is in line with about any B horror movie.
I can't explain how freaky it was, for me, to see the hotel, the parking lot and entrance, the lobby with all the same furniture as normal, the girls behind the front desk are the real girls that work there. My friend Raina had a speaking role. I saw 3 rooms that I have stayed in. The haunted room on the 3rd floor is actually on the 2nd floor and is the room one of my work collogues always stayed in. The house to the side, where in the movie the hotel owners stayed is actually the OnOn Pub. It closed during covid so they used it in the movie as the guest house for the owners.
For me watching it, it was like I was being punked or something. It was so weird seeing a place I've spent 2 months a year at for so long with all the same people in a horror movie. It's hard to ever recommend a movie with subtitles but if you checked out about 20 minutes of this to see the hotel, the huge open air lobby and some of the rooms you can see how it is a cool place and kind of get the idea of how it was freaky for me.
The Shop
It's pretty nuts. I just look at all those types of shows like R rated comics so I am enjoying it. I told my sister and my daughter about it at dinner on Father's day and they had not heard of it so looking forward to their thoughts.
Edit: oh dam I just got to some really weird scenes so maybe shouldn't of told family. Lol
Joker: Folie à Deux. In theaters October 4th.
“Joker: Folie À Deux” finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that's always been inside him.
Official Trailer for The Penguin. Starts September 19th.
Not sure if any of y’all watch On Patrol Live. It’s very enlightening. The antics in Everett, WA and Toledo, OH look extremely whacked out while the scenes in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida look like a normal weekend night. I guess it’s all relative to what you’re used to seeing, right?
Not sure if its been mentioned but i watched, "The Killer" last night. It is formulaic so fairly predictable but the characters were engaging and something about the filming was different enough for me to notice and like. I also enjoyed the "old school" stunt action.
Maybe avidchimp can tell me what filming "technique" they used that made this different than others? (Not that I'd understand).🙃
Checking it out now.
Alien: Romulus....good Alien movie, certainly back to a more straight forward story structure. Great set design, well cast. Nasty, gory nonsense.
The Old Man. Season 2 starts on September 12th.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but we started watching Chimp Crazy on HBO, if you thought the tiger king guy was nuts wait till you see this lady. Holy shit ….
The first official trailer for one of my shows, "Landman" just dropped this morning. "Lioness" drops next week.
@maverick , can you embed please?
Nice, I will be sure to watch.
You @ the wrong guy, but I got you. 😄
Did you work on Tulsa King? I don't have Paramount+ but season 1 is airing on CBS up here with the season finale Sunday.
Pretty good show.
@-MAVERICK- is the one you need to tag.
Edit: I probably won't be able to watch Landman until sometime next year when/if it starts airing on CBS.
It seems like everything Sheridan works on is a hit. I'm surprised HBO or Netflix haven't snatched him up.
Are you going to work on any of the following three shows: Fast, The Madison, and/or 6666: Maple Syrup?
Pit Row
Thank you. I'm not sure what show is next for me, but we won't finish delivering our episodes for LM and LS until January or so, then probably right back into LM S2, then LS S3. There may be some work I have to do for 1923 S2, but that's TBD.
Haven't done anything with Tulsa King.
6666:maple syrup? Tell me more? Google drew me a blank.
"Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing. The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately, where world class cowboys are born and made."
Edit: The 6666 ranch is a real place.

I guess maybe I should have said - maple syrup?
Yeah, I don't know what that's about. Originally it was simply titled 6666.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's still four 6666's and in development. Haven't heard much about it lately.
The maple syrup thing is part of the 4 6's ranch line of products. 😂
Inside Out 2
Sting
Cuckoo
I didn't see that it was mentioned earlier. Likely was and I missed it. But came across Reptile on Netflix last night. Timberlake and Del Toro. I thought it was pretty darn good.
Brassic on Netflix is excellent. It’s on the UK platform so hopefully it’s in other regions as well.
I was never a big Billy Bob Thornton fan until a few years back I watched the "Goliath" series he did on Prime. He was just excellent in it.
Goliath is an awesome series, loved it. I think everyone will like this one too.
Billy Bob was excellent in the first Fargo series too. He stole the show in my opinion.
