Churchill at War.
This captivating 4-part docuseries examines Winston Churchill's pivotal role in World War II and the formative events that made him an ideal leader for the era. Brought to life with his own words, the series explores Churchill's wartime strategy and the legacy that follows.
I've been enjoying this show lately...
It's a hyper inflated version of what working in the film business is like and the characters are great.
Glimpse of the new seasons and new shows coming to HBO/MAX.
@avidchimp
Quick question for you. Are you able to check on any shows that are production or only the stuff you work on?
The Shop
Depends on the show. I have some friends spread around on various projects, but finding out things can be spotty at best sometimes.
I was just wondering if you knew what the status are on the Billions spinoff shows and if there are any actors attached to any of them. I don't think any of the original series regular will reprise their roles. There's 4 in total.
Billions: London, Billions: Miami, Millions, and Trillions.
Did you get to work on the Yellowstone spinoff that is set in modern day, The Madison. It stars Michelle Pfeiffer.
"A New York family's life unravels after a tragedy, as they process grief while vacationing in rural Montana, exploring human connection amidst profound sorrow."
Seeing as they're vacationing, I assume it'll be a miniseries.
I do not know anyone on Billions, but my Producer does, I will ask him.
I am wrapping up the last episode of Lioness S2 and the last 5 episodes of Landman S1 right now, and just yesterday I got roped into helping on the last episode of Yellowstone. I start The Madison around the middle of December, then right back into Landman and Lioness early next year.
I know there are a ton of people still out of work in my business, but fuck, I am tired. I've had exactly 1 day off in 6 months.
Thanks.
Why are they not hiring people if there's plenty of them out there looking for work? That makes no sense.
1 day off in 6 months. For your sake, I hope that you work for yourself and that you're not a studio employee.
Working for my Boss isn't for everyone, and to be honest the way he runs his ranches is the way he runs his shows. We are basically on-call 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, so there aren't a lot of people in this industry with skin thick enough to make it. Plus the inner-circle of trust is very small in this world.
We are W2 employees of Paramount. They used to do loan-outs back in the day so we could S-Corp, but too many people weren't paying their taxes and the studios squashed that now. I get compensated well, but it is blood money.
On a brighter note, Ep's 1&2 of Landman air this Sunday. I hope all ya'll like it as much as I do, I have a big soft spot for this one.
Man, I don't know shit from shinola but I've been paying attention to Sheridans stuff since you mentioned him in this thread. Talk about squared away and tight.
Looking fwd to LM. Any word on 1923?
I am pretty sure they will start dropping S2 of 1923 in mid-December, but that could change.
Watched both episodes tonight. In !
Watched both last night. Fucking Sheridan is Midas. Are folks in Hollywood following him around like Jesus?
Absolutely enjoying it! We are really loving both of these series. Excellent job again.
Show is a few years old but my wife and I just stumbled across it. Kinda falls apart at the end (or so we felt) but it was a great ride…
That looks very good. Putting on the list for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Pit Row
It's a suuuuper fun ride, we burned through it at an embarrassingly fast rate (we both love historical themed stuff) but be warned; once the picture starts to come into focus it starts to get a little less "amazing" but it is certainly worth the watch.
Enjoy and let me know what you think!
The third season of The White Lotus will start airing in February next year on HBO. It takes place in Thailand.
The second season of The Last of Us will start airing next spring on HBO. Season two will only have seven episodes, but a season three is already being planned.
I'm glad they're spreading the second part of the story in two. IMO, it's the only way to tell the story properly. Had they crammed everything in the second season, it wouldn't have made it justice.
Very excited about the next season of White Lotus.
By an absolutely insane unfolding of events my wife and I actually got married at the hotel that's the backdrop for this season.
Lioness is top notch!
like you said before, TLOU2 videogame would need at least 2 dedicated seasons, possibly 3. i really felt like the first season needed another season to fit all the story in. but the 2nd game for sure needs 14 episodes.
Detroiters
American Primeval. Mini-series (6 episodes) on Netflix. Comes out January 9th.
It follows the gritty and adventurous exploration of the birth of the American West, the violent collisions of cults, religion, and men and women fighting for control of the new world.
Watched first few Landman episodes last night- great show! The scene about the windmills really makes you think about the whole green energy mindset failures...
But we were not expecting it to be so funny, we were laughing our asses off at Billy Bob's character- he was hilarious!
And Lioness is excellent too, congratulations on being part of the teams to make such quality TV!
Thank you for the kind words. It's really an honor to work on some of these projects. Lioness will always be my baby, but Landman is a different beast all together. Once you get past episode 4 it starts to get away from character development and into the meat of the S1 story. I'm not a huge fan of Ali's character, but she comes around and you start seeing a different side to her. As episodes 5-10 air you'll probably notice where season 2 is going to go.
The Lioness S2 finale airs next Sunday and it's a biggie.
Has the Amazon documentary “Buy Now” on Netflix been mentioned yet ?
Gotta watch that. I onky have Netflix so Im going to need to poach it somewhere.
Band of Brothers and The Pacific by Hanks and Spielberg were excellent viewing.
Really like Lioness season 2. Good job Avid.
