On a different note, I chatted with Weege Saturday morning in Indy.

Told him he is killing it in the booth and he said thanks.

He also mentioned that they said to him something to the tune of "where have you been all these years" and he said "I've been here waiting for your call for 14 years" and that he couldn't believe they said that to him.

Glad they did, because he is by far the best in the booth that we have had in a long time.

It’s so bad, the production, the camera work, the directing. They are clearly given so many talking points that they have to shoehorn into the broadcast. They don’t call the racing at all. After how many years they can’t figure out how to find and follow a rider on fast lap in qual.

I was told they don’t have enough spotters. So then I said you could implement a few volunteers to help spot battles, fast laps, etc. I was then told “that would cause too much interference”.  All of it just seems to be a big circle jerk

Yea I’m not buying that excuse. I just seems like they are apathetic about changing the broadcast.  They’ve tried for years with this dumbed down version to attract new fans (or so they say) that clear out isn’t working. I got into F1 in the last few years and I learned a lot about the spot cause they don’t dumb down everything.

RC is just cliche saying after cliche saying. Him saying Jett should settle on the 3rd lap of the main when he’s in 6th place 8 seconds behind is so dumb I can’t wrap my head around it.

I have no idea how many people are part of the production crew, but only two of them are any good, JT and Weeg. The rest need to go, maybe keep the camera men, because they go where they’re told.

RC was getting better, and than just regressed. It’s like he thinks he needs to sound intelligent, but ends up sounding ridiculous. He needs to sit back and talk like he’s bench racing with someone.

And Wil? I just want to shoot the tv every time she’s on. Her voice is soooo annoying, and she literally has nothing to add.

Yesterday was the first time I’ve watched race day live this year, they managed to ruin that too.

I almost snapped about the 5th time they went to Screech during the racing. I think that was BEFORE we even got to the fvcking LCQs!!! After that I did snap every time she blathered on about some shit that had nothing to do with the action the booth and the production team were missing anyway. I am regretting that I didn't go see it live. Best racing this year, and frankly, in quite some time.

I don't usually get in on these broadcast complaint threads, but damn...

I agree especially with whoever said earlier, it's like they think the racing is boring and they need to add all this barely relevant utter shit to 'spice it up'.

Changing cameras to one facing the crowd was all time, also 🤦😂

I love your passion guys!  Blair was good as well. They rarely have the camera on the action the crowd is reacting to.

It should be Weege and Dainel Blair in studio its a no brainer. with JT on the floor and have JS as a guest at some races.

Comparison to F1s always come up and while SX will always be super low budget vs. F1, here's some ideas.

1. Turn Wil into the Laura Winter, doing segments before and after with the riders only. No middle of the race stuff, A 1 hour F1 race is too short for those types of stories, let alone a main event in SX. Turn down the screamy and rushed, turn up the calm and casual.

2. You've got Weege as Jolyon Palmer and they need to give JT more time to be the Sam Collins

3. They need a David Coulthard and RC isn't it. There are many better options. pick one

4. stop dumbing it down. SX isn't theory of relativity stuff. it's a race, everyone who could possibly watch understands what a race is. If anything make it more technical, let JT be the Sam Collins to explain how the top riders are getting through a challenging obstacle and what advantage they gain.

I have long taken the stance of giving the broadcast team the benefit of the doubt. It can’t be as easy as we all think, lots of moving parts for sure.

But wow….

I can no longer defend them. Minus Weedge & JT….its getting worse. That shouldn’t be the case.

Anyone know why Blair said he couldn’t comment? If he’s done with the broadcast, why would it matter what he thinks/says? IMG 0478.png?VersionId=mTf yaILiX

Agreed.  However, I disagree that RC just needs to bench race.  I've heard him in numerous forums and he just doesn't have the ability to analyze racing in a cogent and sophisticated manner.  James, in contrast, while a bit long winded, often adds insight into what is happening in a race.

I've said it elsewhere, don't show the crowd. If you want to grow the sport, freaking out new fans by showing the state of the present ones is not the way to do it.

Fucking pathetic.      So sick of this shit.

It's a joke... and believe it or not as a Jett fan I'm sick of it... Watching Hunter in the heat race I can handle but showing Jett watch the 250 main is just ridiculous.

Instead of the media using him to help promote the sport they've just turned the majority of fans against him with this constant attention its embarrassing.

I don't think us whinging on here is really going to change it though lol

I mean there must be someone higher up that you guys can send some emails to? The ones within the production is obviously not listening.

I never watch live so I don´t really care that much.

But just hearing rc rambling on the recaps make me wanna turn the sound off.

It's all unbelievably terrible.

RC just wants to record a podcast while guys ride dirt bikes on the screen . 🤣  I also like when Wil gets interrupted by intense action or an important development … but they immediately go back to let her finish the scripted lines . Top three might all crash together in the whoops but we are going to hear what that mechanic said on Tuesday dammit … 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♂️ …

Will needs to go. No one gives a shit what she has to say.

i genuinely feel there's alot more Weege to unlock, but he needs a partner with some intellect and a little less energy to go full Weege. AC or JB. GL was solid. probably even JS would loosen him up some. RC trying to be co-play-by-play doesn't suit Weege.

babysteps tho. i'm grateful he's in there at all.

Yes they suck at a lot of things.

In the first 250 heat we only got to see Kitchen for the first 3-4 minutes. Nothing at all about the other 21 riders on the track.

They often focus on the top 3 in the mains and don't mention the top guys till much later if at all. Sometimes the scoring only appears after 2 full laps. Sexton, Webb, Tomac, could be in 18th but you only find out on lap 3 if you read the scoring and they won't put them on the broadcast until they get in the top 5. On the other hand, if Jett or Deegan get a bad start then they don't show anything but their comeback.

Do we really need a recap of the heats? Or recaps from Moto 1 and recaps from both motos after moto 2? They should focus on going in depth on eventful things or interview riders, mechanics, managers, etc. A full on recap of what we just watched is pointless...

Core fans learn nothing from the broadcast. Which other sport shown live weekly is educating new spectators and doesn't have any fricking stats other then points standings and Webb's laps led?

They celebrated the 50th anniversary of supercross by explaining what supercross is for the 50th year in a row...

DC (coulthard) is the best. he gets away with saying some pretty spicy things by modern corporate standards.

sam collins is a wiz. it's great he gets the airtime he does, american execs would never go for that level of cerebralism.

I also liked Ricky questioning Weege if he knew the blue colored bikes were not actually Yamahas... Weege played that one off nicely.

Also, it is a COMPLETE insult to the 250 riders, their teams, and their sponsors that are on the track when they cut away to show the backside of Jett watching the F'n race that we WANT TO BE WATCHING.. but we aren't watching it because we are watching Jett watch it..

Yeah it was arguably the worst night of production in recent memory and that is saying something. The moment you referenced in particular, shows that there is no synergy between the broadcast talent and production, the camera was on Jett when weege made that call and all they had to do was keep it on him... But no, switch to drone shot of barcia in no mans land (even though the caption said battle for 4th).

Two things are true. As an international (aus) viewer the broadcast has never been better or more accessible, AND the broadcast is lacking to the point where it's embarrassing.

The frustrating thing is its pretty simple stuff, that I haven't seen other much smaller sports have issues with.

"Two things are true. As an international (aus) viewer the broadcast has never been better or more accessible, AND the broadcast is lacking to the point where it's embarrassing."

So, what you're saying is - it's never been easier to watch something not worth watching?

Makes perfect sense it today's world.Cool

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to throw it to Will.

Spot on as I asked him bout it on pulp show one nite and he said they were doing good job!! I told him he better tune in to the mxgp broadcast to see how a sport is supposed to be covered!! Mailan does it alone and is superior!!

Magoober is so sick of the fucking pathetic Lawrence coverage.

Something is obviously very wrong. At one point during the 250 heat race, they were running two split screens of the exact same section, with the same riders. Once we realized it we started laughing.

Nothing to see here everything is fine, just a few good ole boys cashing in a paycheck with per diem etc, have a horrible performance and embarrass our sport and then tell you they are doing a great job. Pretty sad and one would think the powers that be Feld/Davey would want the best quality product and not this absolute shit show of a joke
